Bought for dogs
I started a subscription for the filters, but that was before my Yorkie was drinking from the water system she heard it gurgle as it was refilling the bowl. Now she's scared to death of it. I have canceled my subscription 4/04/23 . I just got an alert from my bank that I was charged again...I no longer need them!! How hard can it be to stop the subscription?? It has caused my bank to put a hold on my debit card for the second time. This is a pain in my pocket!!

DO NOT REMOVE THE BLACK RUBBER SEAL ON THE FILTER
I can't believe I need to explain this but if you've removed the rubber stopper at the top of the filter, you've successfully wasted your money. The rubber stopper is called a "check valve" or non-return valve. It's sole purpose is to make sure things can flow one way but not the other; in this case, so air can flow into the reservoir, but water can't flow out of that particular hole, because THERE'S NO FILTER IN THAT HOLE! If you've removed it, you may as well just not added the filter in the first place. If you look at Tony C's picture, he shows the small plastic cap you're supposed to uncap on the reservoir lid. You may still run into an issue where it stops dispensing water even if there is water in the reservoir; this seems to be an issue with where the actual dispensing hole (the rod with the spring) aligns in the bowl itself. I've personally found that if you don't twist/secure the reservoir to the black bowl/dish part like you're supposed to, the flow will not be obstructed, but it may get knocked over if your dog runs into it. As for the filter review, it's alright so far. The entire reason I bought it was because the reservoir would have fruit flies in it when I'd go to refill and it smelled horrible from all my dog's slobber getting sucked back up into it. So I mainly bought it to keep the flies and slobber out of the reservoir, rather than filtering the water itself; to which it seems to do a good job of. Though like I said, the fact that you have to keep it unsecured to dispense properly isn't great. Hopefully this has kept some of you from following bad advice and flushing your money down the drain. Followup: I've discovered that locking the reservoir into the dish in a position so the PetSafe logo is upside down has kept the reservoir from getting blocked up and I haven't had a blockage issue in over a month. I can't say whether this will work for everyone, but if you're running into blockage issues, pay attention to the orientation of the logo when it's blocked and rotate the reservoir 180 degree to see if that solves it.

My dogs will walk upstairs to drink from the Petsafe Station with the installed Filter
I bought a Large PetSafe Healthy Pet Water Station for my two german sheperds a while back. I liked the first one enough that I bought a second one for upstairs and I bought these filters at the same time. The biggest con to these filters is that you have to unplug the part of the water container that keeps water from leaking when it's not set in the water station base. Since I didn't like this feature I only put the filter in the newly purchased water station for upstairs. I've noticed that my two german sheperds will travel upstairs to the Water Station with the filter even if they are already in the Kitchen with a full water station. I can't vouch for how well the filter works, but I can say my dogs prefer the filtered unit as I'm having to refill the upstairs unit with the filter 2-3 times more often than the downstairs unit without it.

It keeps getting air locked.
Some times you have to tap on the waterer so it will fill the pan with water.

Works as described. Ignore all the people who are incapable of reading a 3-step set of instructions.
Does what it says it does. All the problems people are describing are due to not reading the instructions on the back of the box. There are only 3 steps. I'm not sure why this is so complicated. "No water is coming through, I have to keep shaking it! OMG!" (Step 1 of instructions: open the little black cap. Water flows freely.) "There are little black particles in the water! My pet is going to die! OMG!" (Step 2, 3 of instructions: rinse the filter thoroughly to wash away loose charcoal particles. No more black particles.) I docked one star because you do need to make sure you rinse the filter thoroughly before first use. Otherwise you do get black particles during the first little while but it disappears quickly if you keep rinsing and emptying. Also, it's activated charcoal, people. A few tiny particles isn't going to hurt your pet.

Don't buy! These stop the water from dispensing properly!
This item is a waste of money. I bought it because it was recommended with the water dispenser I bought, but the filters actually stop the water from dispensing properly. I would have to check it multiple times a day and tip it to make the water flow. The second I took the filter out, problem solved. The water dispenser has been working ever since. So yeah, long story short but save your money...I wish I did.

Works great if you pull the black stopper out!!
When I first used the filter I constantly had to rock it back and forth burp the water station. When I changed the filter I pull the little black air stopper out completely. It's been over a week and I haven't had to burp the station. I HIGHLY!!!!!!!! recommend for anyone who has a pet.

Wish I could use them…
I bought these along with the PetSafe Healthy Pet Water Station. The filter prevented the flow of water to refill the bowl. I read those reviews AFTER I bought the filter. I took the filter out and the flow started back up. However, the filter fits great, does what it’s supposed to do (I think). It just prevented the proper use of the product I purchased the filters for.
