Difficult to clean fountain nozzle

I have had this fountain for almost 2 years. I've had to replace the pump once. Recently, the fountain has become very noisy. The water is loud and drips outside of the fountain. I thoroughly cleaned and replaced the filter and adjusted the water flow and was still having issues. I started reviewing other reviews and noticed other people mentioning the same issue and having a hard time cleaning the fountain notice. I used a straw cleaning brush and cleaned both ends. I stuck the brush as far as I could but it got stuck so needed someone to pull it out with a pliers while I held onto it. So much built up scale came out and when I ran it under water, black scum came out. Now the fountain makes no noise and is not dripping. I'm glad I figured out how to clean it but wish it came with a cleaning tool that easily goes in both openings. I almost bought a different style fountain-so glad I tried this cleaning method first.

Finally figured how to make work smoothly

The key to this fountain is cleaning out the curved neck (see attached photo of flexible brush). Like others, after a while noisy and splashing all over the floor. Took pump apart, cleaned thoroughly and still had problems. Finally bought this brush made to clean aquarium tubes. Wow, the neck was full of big pieces of black gunk which was affecting water flow. Now fountain is flowing properly and quiet. It's the only part of the fountain the company doesn't mention cleaning and they should. Including a tool to keep the neck clean would be even better. Unfortunately this is only one I've found that really resembles a faucet.

Great Fountain!

Thrilled with this fountain. My senior cat has been very ill with pancreatitis and refused to drink water. No longer interested in his current expensive fountain and would only drink water from sink faucet with alot of coaxing. Was so dehydrated, spent 3 days in vet hospital, plus two visits to vet for hydration shots. I thought this was the end for him. Thankfully, he immediately took to this fountain and drank repeatedly on his own. Its simple, easy to put together, very quiet. Great for cats who only will drink from sink faucet. Cheaper than $8k in vet bills.

Noisy thing - when it needs cleaning

I love this thing, until I hate it. When it's clean it's soundless and the cats drink from it all the time. As soon as it get even slightly gunky, whatever that is, twice to three times a week, it makes a ton of noise and the cats aren't fans. Expect to clean it every other day at a minimum. Seems like you should be able to go a week just refilling it, but... nope. Requires a good scrubbing and a new filter way too often.

Owned for 6 months and Very Satisfied - read my review!!

I'm glad I waited a full 6 months before leaving this review because I've gone through a lot of highs and lows with this fountain and at various points would have given it a much lower rating. I've come to realize that I really didn't understand what was needed to maintain this fountain at its optimal conditions. Now that I understand, the fountain runs like a dream and is absolutely silent without splashing any water. Here are some of the most important things I learned, so hopefully it can help impart faster knowledge to others who are ready to give up on this fountain: 1. Rinsing the fountain and replacing the water daily is good, but doesn't give the fountain the deep cleaning that it needs. 2. Over time, by not cleaning the little parts in the fountain, it affects the amount of water that flows through the fountain. The less water/water pressure that flows through the fountain, the louder the fountain gets. At least weekly, you should take the entire fountain apart including the pump and use a skinny straw brush and push it around in the crevices of the pump and up each end of the skinny spout of the fountain. Trust me, before I started using the straw brush for a deep cleaning, my fountain sounded very loud and splashed the water. There seems to have been some kind of build-up that I couldn't get out until I used the straw brush, which impeded the flow of water 3. Inside the pump is a lever that pushes left or right (open or closed). If your fountain sounds loud and splashes water, make sure this lever is pushed all the way open. 4. Make sure you are filling the fountain with a sufficient amount of water. There is a faint line on the side with the words Low and your water lever should always be above that level. 5. After you take the fountain apart and do a deep cleaning, sometimes when you fill it back up with water and plug it in, it can take 30 seconds or longer for the water flow to start. You'll just hear the motor of the pump until then and you might think the fountain is broken, but give it a little time to start flowing again. 6. Lastly, I do recommend getting the replacement filters and changing them regularly. It helps keep the slime out as well. Hopefully you find these words of advice helpful. I wasn't deep cleaning the right way and as regularly as I should have been and didn't realize that I was causing the loudness and splashing of the water. I was ready to give up on the fountain until I figured out what I was doing wrong and started deep cleaning it properly and more regularly. Now it is absolutely running perfectly and my two cats absolutely love it and both drink out of it daily and play with it with their paws.

Better than expected

Very quiet and easy to put together. There was a UK plug included. You can change rate of flow by a little switch on the pump but not mentioned in the instructions. My ls who has never had a fountain before fell in love with it immediately. Plastic but sturdy when filled with water.

10/10 Pet Water Fountain

I purchased the Pioneer pet water fountain around five months ago, and can comfortably say that it has been the best water drinking device I've purchased for my cat. Firstly, the fountain is basic and elegant in style - unlike almost every other that is either too large and cumbersome, or looks an eyesore in the house. Secondly, it is quiet, really quiet, almost silent, yet provides a good stream of water and flow for almost any small animal or even a dog. It comes with an excellent charcoal filter that easily slots over the pump, and helps to keep contamination from the drinking water. These are easily purchased separately, as you will need to change this at least once a month to make sure your water stays clean and this system works correctly. It's also relatively easy to clean, which is important. As with any water supply system, it requires regular cleaning and maintenance, that is simple and straightforward with a sterile brush and mild soap. I'd recommend getting some small pull-through brushes to clean through the spout and inlet to the motor, which I've just started doing in order to maintain performance and prolong the life of the device. I'd also like to add that I've found the after-sales customer service from this seller to be excellent. But, most importantly of all, my cat loves this. He has actually increased his water intake since we've had it, and even prefers it to the holy grail of feline hydration, the tap in the sink.

Replacement fillters need to be cheaper

Great product my cat loves it easy set up and quiet as a mouse / my only problem with this product is the replacement fillters are are really expensive usualy 3 for £18 and you have to replace fillter once a month according to instructions so it makes the product a lot more exspensive over the long run which isnt ideal

Perfect bird bath!

I bought this because my IRN parrot loves tap water but is scared to come out of the room since we moved. He used to love baths but was too scared to have them in the new house. This perfectly solved his non-bathing issues! He is so in love with this water fountain and the cord is able to go through the bottom of the cage so it is unavailable for him to chew and hurt himself. This was a great purchase ????????????
