Had to repair it before installing

Bought this to install and surprise my partner with a Murphy desk workspace. Looks great. Folds up easily. Love the little added storage compartments and the chalkboard was a hit. However, it came pretty cheaply designed. The back is not nailed on very well at all. It started to fall apart right away. I had to get new sturdier nails and some gorilla glue to fix it and make sure it stayed on. It is also not super sturdy when installed. Do not lean too much on it! Basically, it’s pretty neat and works as a lightly used space. But it required quite a bit of extra work to fix the cheap way the back is installed.

Great space saving desk for my office

The wall mounted fold-down Murphy desk with chalkboard is a practical and versatile solution for small spaces. It's made of high-quality materials and has a sturdy construction. Weak magnets

Like many of the reviews, the magnets on my desk are not strong enough to hold the front closed. I am looking for some simple latches to hold it shut. I was lucky and my desk was not damaged during shipping. But I can see how they can be so easily damaged, the packaging is not that great. It seems sturdy enough for what we need it for, but I may upgrade the straps that hold the fold down desktop. I don’t think they’ll fail, but I’d be more comfortable with chains or cable. It was easy to get hung up with a French cleat. Just make sure to use a stud or ample anchors. Overall I am happy with this desk, especially at the price point. Most of the desks I was looking at were over $200.

Easy to assemble but some modifications may be needed

This is a great Murphy desk but the only issue I had is that the belt-like pieces that hold the desk do get looser over time. I'd suggest grabbing some sturdier hinges that can hold more weight (the ones that come with the desk are pretty small and more for a tiny cabinet door) and different straps to hold the desk upright. Overall installation was simple (you may need two people though) and the desk has lasted a while since Xmas of 2022.

FLIMSY

I bought 3 of these. One - has a dent and the wood used to assemble is flimsy. The other one the backing keeps opening. My husband and I had to modify ALL 3 to make it work.

Just what I was looking for

I’ve been looking for a fold down table and I found this. Large area to work on. As other reviews said, the magnets are worthless. It comes with a hook that keeps it closed just fine.

You get what you pay for.

Order a unit. As many others noted, arrived with damage. Replacement also arrived with damage. But minor enough i could live with it. Nothing a little glue and a clamp can't fix.

Super cute!!

I just finished mounting this on the wall and it seems pretty great so far. I did use stronger screws that came with the package but the mounting cleat made it very easy! Placing it at the average height of a counter at 36 inches off the floor does look a little funny, like a chalkboard would normally be mounted a little higher on the wall. The ''very strong'' magnets do not work AT ALL and there is a bit of a design flaw in that the cloth strips used to fold up and down get in the way when you close it. The little eye hook does the job for now so I am not gonna let this bum me out. I wish it has a weight rating, I couldn't find one. All in all it is super cute and I'm really excited to start using it as my new, organized painting center!!

Easy setup.

The desk worked out well for the space I needed. The straps get in the way when closing, other than that, I wish it was a few inches deeper, 5" is not much space for things other than a few nicknacks! The 3 magnets are redundant as they don't quite hold the chalkboard cover in place, luckily it comes with a hook to hold it up.
