Hip kit for hip surgery
I almost didn’t buy the kit but so glad I did. It really came in handy. It takes a couple try’s getting used to using but is very easy putting on socks, help dressing. I have used everything in the kit and have needed to use it .

Helpful to Have
Purchased for my husband who has recently undergone heart surgery. The tools included are useful for dealing with issues such as reaching, putting socks on, etc. The only thing that would be beneficial for the buyer would be for the seller to include instructions for use of each item included rather than having to rely upon YouTube educational videos, etc - especially for the elderly.

Must have after a hip replacement
I was told about this during the preadmission interview before my hip replacement, so I bought it before the surgery. The missing star is for the sock aid, it's worthless. But the grabber is something you need when you can't get around well and the shoe horn will be useful for a long time to come. The sponge on a stick won't last long, but it's helpful right now when I can't much lift my right leg. I didn't buy a shower seat, just push the aluminum walker inside and stand. My college roommate had her hip replaced three weeks after I did and she bought one too. Nice that you can get these useful, but inexpensive things that help you through the first couple of weeks after surgery.

Most of the pieces are very useful. But the grabber isn't useful for anything over a few ounces. It just folds over

Economy. Go for the deluxe version for better quality and more tools.
As an occupational therapist, I recommend these things all the time for people with back pain, spinal precautions after surgery or who get out of breath reaching their feet and don't want to rely on someone else to help them dress. I erred in ordering this kit, however, because in my opinion it is missing one of the best and most versatile tools, the dressing stick, and the shoe horn is flimsy plastic. The reacher and sock aide are useful, but for an extra few bucks on the deluxe kit, you get the dressing stick, a nice metal shoe horn that doubles as a home security device and several sets of elastic shoe laces that turn any pair of shoes into skechers that don't need to be tied and untied to remove. If you're on a super tight budget, this will get the job done, but if there's room, I strongly suggest upgrading.

Occupational therapist approved
Great kit that includes the the basics needed for lower body self-care. Reacher has good pinching strength which is important when pulling on clothing items. Build quality is good on all items. Shoe horn is not a flimsy plastic, as I’ve seen in other kids, however is not as strong and durable as a metal one. Sock aid ropes are nice and have little to no stretch to them, making it easy and efficient to use.

Mostly cheaply made junk. Buy a better kit
Summary: spend a little more money on better tools. Rehabilitation can be challenging enough without having to deal with crappy tools. Specifically: The good: the sock aid works reasonably well and is helpful. (You can buy these separately). The mediocre: The grabber is at least partially made of aluminum so it is slightly sturdy, and works ok for grabbing a sock or shirt, but it will definitely not last long lifting shoes or jeans. And its design makes it really only useful for retrieving fabric. No chance at picking up a cell phone or bottle of pills, for examples. The bad: shoe horn is not long enough (post hip surgery) and is VERY cheap, thin, flexible plastic. I find it more frustrating than helpful. The sponge-on-a-stick is a total joke, as the cheap plastic handle is so bendy you can’t rub with any pressure on anything.
