Not expanding

Foam gutter guards are shipped compressed. I got some from Lowes and they expanded to full size in minutes. These gutter guards are 24 hr out of the box and still not full size. So far, not so good. I will check the weight of these compared to Lowes per another review. I will always get ones with UV protection.

Cheaper than the metal helmets/covers/screens but way superior

This foam is simple and easy to install and costs a fraction of the price of over-marketed helmets, covers, and screens. I've had a set of these on my garage gutters for at least 13 years now and they still perform flawlessly. The house is surrounded by coniferous trees that dump cones and needles for 8 months of the year. Some needles end up sticking into a few of the small openings in the foam and every few years I pull moss off the top of the foam. I used to have to clean the gutters weekly during the rainy season. Haven't done so since I installed these.

Foam gutters are the best

I had to replace my foam gutter guards after about six years because too much debris had settled in them. I still ordered the same thing this is in a rain forest where there’s a lot of trees nearby. After trying plastic guards that would blow off in wind storms and be scattered everywhere I love the foam if I can just scrunch and doesn’t have to be a perfect size they’re amazing!

Waste of time and money

Purchased these foam gutter guard and regret installing them. While in theory they should work to keep leaves and debris out of your gutters, these gutter guards actually consume volume in your gutters. Let me explain. While they work well in keeping leaves and tree droppings out of your gutter to prevent clogging of your downspouts, in heavy rain, they also displace volume needed in your gutter to excavate water and guide it to your downspouts. We had a heavy rain storm last month which dropped 3-4 inches of rain in an hour. The rain overflowed my gutters and caused some flooding n our conservatory. The collected volume of water should have easily been carried away to several of the downspouts draining the gutters. But, the foam when wet and inserted into the gutter uses a volume of the space or volume of the gutter. As a result, the water could not be carried away fast enough to prevent gutter overflow. I have since removed the foam gutter guards and replaced them with stainless steel mesh guards. We had a similar heavy rain thunderstorm last week, and without the foam gutter guards, we had no gutter overflow into the conservatory. I do not recommend these foam gutter guards unless you only get light rain. If you are subject to heavy thunderstorms (2-4 inches of rainfall in an hour, do not purchase these gutter guards. Buy the surgical stainless steel mesh screen products instead.
