Good quality and appearance, needed mounting screws and bigger wire nuts, fixture is slightly out of plumb...

Just came in today and installed them. They are well made units and look really nice. They come with the typical adjustable mounting bracket that screws to a standard single gang outlet or switch box, and I think it would fit a typical 'octagon' or round box, but I have had problems in the past with the same mounting bracket not being wide enough to meet the mounting holes of a round box. They did not come with 2 - #6-32 mounting screws to attach the mounting bracket to the box, so I had to dig around and find some, and I also used some small washers with the screws, as sometimes the slots on the mounting bracket will let the screws slide through. I also had to cut off the length of the screw studs that secure the actual fixture to the mounting bracket, as my boxes where set flush to the surface of the brick and they ended up sticking out past the front of the fixture and not securing the fixture tight to the wall, your mileage may vary... The included orange wire nuts are just OK, they work fine if you have a single 14 ga supply wiring coming into the box. If you have 2 wires that loop through the box, or you have 12 ga romex, then you're in trouble as the wire nuts won't be big enough and you'll have to dig around for yellow wire nuts or make a trip to the 'big orange box'. Both of the fixtures where slightly twisted, in the the globe portion was slightly out of plumb when the mounting base was plumb, so I just adjusted the mount to be out of plumb so the fixture would be straight, as I did not want to attempt to twist the fixture where it is attached to the small pipe tube and risk breaking it...

Outdoor lantern

With the new siding going up I wanted new lanterns to grace the sides of the garage and the doors. I was looking for something made of heavy unbendable metal. The last lantern purchased from a big box store was bendable and the finish corroded after a few years. I wanted an open bottom so that I didn't have dead bugs to clean out. I was dismayed in my search because I didn't recognize many of the brands featured on Amazon. Note well: Before you order these lanterns be sure to note the measurement of the back plate of this lantern that is provided by the manufacturer. The back plate of this lantern is larger than the standard, color matched lighting mounts that are offered in CertainTeed vinyl siding. In order to get a larger lighting mount for our siding - the contractor had to either special order the larger plate or we had to go with white. This didn't matter so much to me because we selected natural clay and the trim is white on the capping for the door frames. I selected this based on the quality which was evident in the photos and the recognizable brand, and the unique globe: 1. This lantern is heavy and the metal is so thick and strong you cannot hand bend the hanging portion.unlike the cheaper thinner metals from discount. 2. The matte bronze like finish on the metal is flawless - it is exactly as depicted on the photo. This finish clearly will not corrode in the elements. The seams on the bolts are well screwed in and they match the finish. The welds are solid with a clean finish on the faceplate. 3. The simple ornamentation and seeded glass is absolutely beautiful and coordinates well with my Dutch colonial home.

Great Light

The color is a VERY dark oil rubbed bronze. My wife sees it as black but I can see the faint bronze tones. The angle and ambient lighting around it affect it too. If you look at the reviews here other people mention seeing these as black. Beyond the color this is a very good light. Has good build quality, significant weight and does not feel or look cheap. Packaging was excellent. Zero instructions but it is easy to figure out how to install it. If you can't figure it out you should not be messing with electrical wiring. I had to alter the bracket a little to fit my wall box with their bracket but that is just luck of the draw as to how your wall box was mounted and where the screw holes are. All in all it is a great light just don't be looking for it to jump at you screaming bronze color like most bathroom fixtures etc.

this item is alot smaller than I thought. I could had gotten the size I wanted at the same price at costco.

Easy to install

I received a three of these lights for the exterior of my home. The instructions were very easy to follow. If you are unfamiliar with electrical work, you may not already understand that sometimes you need to cut the screws down for the product to fit perfectly. For my home, two of the long screws need to be trimmed just a bit for this to work perfectly. If you didn’t read the instructions carefully, you would miss that this product does not come with a lightbulb. Be sure to buy the Edison style light bulb for this light fixture. Other lightbulbs will work just fine. However, if you want it to look just like the original picture, be sure to purchase the Edison style light bulb.

Handyman installed this over my garage. It looks fabulous, very nice looking. It states that it is bronze, but it is actually black in colour, which is exactly what I was looking for.

Its Medium size light

It is a medium size light with no dusk to dawn function in it. Completely manual operation. otherwise nothing fancy and does its job outdoor in rain and shine both.
