Ce long enrouleur de cordon de 12 AWG x 65 pi a une fonction de cliquet à double réglage, verrouillant le cordon à la longueur souhaitée. Great unit ruined by ridiculous breaker feature

This unit is robust, easy to install and would be great if it wasn't for the fact that some totally insane designer put an overcurrent device on the reel. This means every time it trips you have to get out a ladder and climb to ceiling height. When I have time I am going to remove the trip and short it out. To meet code in most workshops you need the unit running through a GFI and if the breaker it runs off is rated correctly you don't need any breaker or over-current at the unit. If the supplier/designer truly wanted to provide that as a useful feature then it should be at the delivery outlets at the end of the cable not in the prt you mount in the ceiling. Putting the trip where you cannot access it is beyond insane. With the design as-is I would not recommend this product.

Rollers are fragile

My first one arrived with a broken roller. See the photo to know what to look for. This happens because the packaging is flimsy and if anyone drops it in the box, the cord stop bashes into the roller and breaks it. Better packaging could easily prevent that. Other than that it is a robust unit and I am eagerly awaiting the replacement from Amazon. It is easy to remove and/or bypass the breaker. Just remove 4 screws, pull the connectors off the breaker, and connect the wires directly together. I have 20A circuits so I don't want a 15A breaker interrupting it. Using a 13" planer under heavy load, will trip a 15A breaker, in my experience. The 12 gauge cord is very high quality with a good slick feel. The cord easily locks in place and releases easily as well (just pull beyond the last click in a series, and release it). This is replacing a 14 gauge SnapOn that failed. In comparison, this one is much heavier duty. I noticed some reviewers complain that it only came with hex or carriage bolts with nuts, but mine also included lag screws with washers. Nice change to prevent needing to go to a hardware store.

easy to mount if you remove bracket from reel first

very easy to mount if you remove the bracket first by removing the 2 screws by the tabs that hold the bracket to reel..then pull out the 2 tabs and bracket comes off.. see attached pictures. then pull all the wire out of the reel that you can..this makes it alot lighter. then put the bracket on the wall and then put reel up in the bracket ,,put the tabs back in and the screws that hold the tabs in the bracket. This is my 3rd reel from Amazon and it is the best by far..yes its plastic but for the more heavy duty metal ones they cost about 350 to 400 bucks.. course time will tell but so far it seems good.. cord seems heavy duty enough and is soft and not stiff like my other reels are .., the 3 outlets on these reels are usually junk so i normally cut them off and put on a heavy duty female ..this one seams better and i will leave it on for now

Nicely built

The product seems nicely built, sturdy with a nice size cord (gauge and length). The only thing I doubt is its ability to handle 15 amps. Its breaker trips when I have it attached to my fryer. However, it works fine with my shop-vac or my 10 inch table saw. So maybe it can not handle a 15 amp draw. I had a 13 amp one before and it never tripped. Anther reason I doubt its 15 amp rated, I have it plugged into a 15 amp circuit and my breaker never kicks off. So maybe a 4 star is about the highest I can rate the product for not possible achieving a 15 amp rating for the device. No other issues with this product as of the time of this review.

Directions lacked some specifics regarding drill bit size, but that may be because this is a commercial product. Easy enough to determine too, so no big deal

Don't order this used

I tried ordering this from Amazon Warehouse for a small discount, but the cord wouldn't lock in place. I reached out to Amazon in case it was user error and they (tried to be, but) were not helpful. "Sir, are you aware this is a used item?" YES! Of course, but I expect it to still work. Anyhow, after ordering this, waiting for it, installing it (almost an hour due to a challenging location in my garage), uninstalling it, ordering another, the same problem with that one–it extends and retracts, but won't lock in place. Exact same thing twice. Ordered a third time, this time "new" and it works as expected. Amazon Customer Support was not good on this, but I'm glad I finally got one that works. The plastic doesn't feel particularly sturdy and I have pretty low confidence that this will last very long.

Great for replacing that knotting, annoying extension cord in your garage.

I had a longer extension cord in my garage for years. I got very sick of winding and unwinding the thing when using it. I used clips and hooks to keep the old thing around. Then I bought this, installed it above head height (to keep it out the way), and wished I had done it ten years ago. Cripes, does this thing make my prior use of old school extension cords look silly.
