Understanding there are 2 versions of this American Apparel 2001 T-Shirt
There are actually two versions of this model# 2001 T-shirt 2001 is made in the USA. The material is thicker, better grad. Sizes are true, and the quality of sewing and construction is so much better. And of course the price is much more because it's made in USA. Price is also higher, but even after 20+ washes, still feels like brand new! There's also 2001W which is the same type of t-shirt, but 2001W are produced in South America. Using cheaper materials, and cheaper labor and why the 2001W it's literally half the price of the regular USA made. 2001W's materrial is, and color fades after 7-8 washes.

Lightweight Material, Great Fit
Lightweight 100% cotton feels great in warm weather, plenty long so it stays tucked in the waistband. Shrinks a little , nothing bad.

Perfect basic shirt with some woes
First of all, I love American Apparel - totally brings me back to my scene days. And being from Canada originally, it's super crumby that they closed up shop up North. Now that I was in the market for some basic layering t-shirts, I thought looking nowhere else but at American Apparel. So, color me impressed when I found out they sell on Amazon. As for the shirt goes, it's solid. Good neckline and waistline, feels super durable and worth the money. The only downside is that this shirt is kind of long - like goes past my crotch (rule of the thumb is that shirts shouldn't go passed the crotch area). Luckily this comes in a two-pack so I'm going to wash and dry one to see if that makes a difference. I wouldn't say to size up, as apart from length it's perfect (although I could go between size small or medium, though medium in AA is perfect), but just know, if you have a shorter upper body that it might appear long on you. Would definitely buy again though.

Great Fit and Value
I'm terrible with measurements; if I need laser precision with clothing/tailoring that is what Brooks 360, and Men’s Warehouse are for. They are cheap (in price), of good quality, fit properly, not the metro male (ultra conforming), and not too baggy either. They don't shrink when washed, and I believe that they are made of cotton (feel like it and not polyester). It's a casual T, for a modern wardrobe, it isn't a classic prep pink polo or Oxford here. I don't know what else to mention, it serves its intended purpose. Oh, would I purchase again? Embarrassingly yes. As my income is nothing of what it used to be. It's quite accessible in price and I don't think you will find anything of this quality for much less.

Not great
Has an 'odd' fit and a weird tag that hangs down in the back that is gonna get on your nerves. A good cheap undershirt if you need it for a job....but not a great, comfy walk around in the summer light t-shirt.

Side Seams
I have several of these AA "fine jersey" shirts and love them because they are light and soft. The ones that I most recently ordered looked fine, so I took the tags out and washed them. I just went to put one on and realized that they have a seam down each side of the shirt! None of the others that I have are constructed this way (same size), so I'm not sure if they have changed the way they make them or if they're not the real deal, but I'm pretty disappointed. Too expensive for a pieced together undershirt.
