Perfect for Weber Grill or Ooni pizza oven
I got my Weber Genesis II grill setup the other day, then realized the quick connect it comes with is not ready to attach to my stub. God knows why they do this, but they send you a quick connect with 3/8 female NPT threads, when most homes have female 1/2. Why they don't ship it with a 1/2 male connection is a mystery. I remember 2 years ago when I bought my dad his grill that he had the same issue, but assumed at the time it was because their house was 40 years old and nonstandard. So anyway, I ordered this and some Teflon/PTFE tape for same day delivery, since weirdly no one in town stocks this connector. Make sure not to use the white stuff, it's way too thin and would require too many wraps to make a proper seal. Technically if you're following code, you'd need pink since it's spec for gas piping with 1/2" threads and over, but I'm sure yellow would be fine. The yellow stuff is cheaper at your local hardware store, but I just got my tape with the connector since it wasn't worth an extra trip (and no one in town stocked pink). Once I got it in and taped up both sets of threads, I screwed it tight into the Weber quick connect, then screwed the quick connect to my gas stub. After that I checked it for leaks with soapy water just to be safe and fired up my grill. It's much more compact that Webers suggested black iron pipe, and looks a lot cleaner too. I know this is an issue for the Genesis II grills, but I assume you'll need one for the new Genesis as well. My dad also got an Ooni natural gas pizza oven and faced the same situation, so if you have one of those you'll probably need this part as well.

Must have part for Weber Grill Natural Gas Hookup!!
Purchased a Weber Spirit II Natural Gas Grill. This part is essential to attach to the “quick release” hose that comes with the grill to then attach to the shutoff valve. DO NOT try to use a reducer that had a “flanged” end. It will NOT work.

Perfect fit for connecting my NG grill
Purchased this adapter to convert the 1/2” gas line connector from my house to the 3/8” gas line from my Weber Genesis grill. Easy to install and was a perfect fit. Tested the connections and no signs of leaking.

Poorly machined
The 1/4” side is fine but the 3/8” side wasn’t fully machined so the threads won’t catch the female end I’m trying to connect. I’ve even used other 3/8” fitting to make sure it’s the correct size, and they all connect perfect. But this one just keeps turning and won’t catch.

Machining defect.
There was a ridge line crossing all the threads on the 1/2" NPT part of the fitting. In the photo you can see a dark like running down the centre of the bright illuminated stripe. I suspect that it was a manufacturing defect (from a die maybe?). I can feel it catching my fingernail. Anyway. The fitting is scrap, since it would be near impossible to make a good seal, what with the sharp edge scoring and cutting holes and gaps in any thread tape or sealant I used.

Not correct 3/8 size
3/8 sizing is incorrect

Great fit
Used this to connect my 1/2" gas supply line to a 3/8" quick connect adapter. Fits great and seems to be of good quality.

The size in the description is not correct
I went to the hardware store and got the correct fitting in five minutes. Some things are just better done in person.

Works great!
I used this for my natural gas BBQ connection with some yellow pipe dope. I have been using it for many months and it has not developed any leaks or corroded outdoors. Very happy with the purchase!
