well that's just silly.
These sort of "de-militarized" tactical pants seem to be a trend right now, but where 5.11 clearly put a lot of thought into their apex model, Blackhawk really winged it with these tac life pants. It seems like Blackhawk was trying to copy Kuhl with these pants, right down to the ring shaped snap. There are definitely som things they got right, like the 100% nylon fabric, the phone pocket, crotch gusset, articulated knees, and the high quality zippers and stitching. Without a doubt these pants are well constructed from top grade materials. Where they fall short is in the layout and fit. They are simply cut way too narrow in the thighs, which is a pretty ballsy move with such a non-stretchy fabric. I only squat 300 lbs, and don't have big thighs by any standard, but it's only thanks to the crotch gusset and articulated knees that I can even sit down with these on. And forget about being able to wear a thermal layer under them in the winter. Next let's discuss the crazy pockets. There are these two goofy "knife pockets" built into the outer edge of the front hip pockets. They are terrible. They just get in the way when I go to replace my knife. Finally, the magazine pocket looks as if the production people were looking at the design blueprints backwards. The gusset opens towards the front rather than the back so it snags as you walk past things. Not to mention that the entire magazine pocket is located on the RIGHT THIGH. This might work fine for left-handed shooters, but for me it is incredibly awkward. It's so poorly placed that I just use it for holding my wallet. So Blackhawk, if you're reading this, here are my recommendations: - switch the thigh pockets around - add an extra inch or two in the thighs - lose the knife pockets With those three changes you could have a solid 5 star product.

Nice. Not a cargo pant. 100% Nylon.
This is a good lightweight tactical pant, but not a cargo pant. It is 100% nylon, which I found I didn't like so much, but which has it's advantages I guess. Personal/y, I prefer the Ridgeline tactical pant by 511Tactical which are about the same design, price and weight. I preferred the Ridgeline's fabric, which is 62% polyester & 38% cotton, and the very subtle pattern of the fabric which you can see in the magnified view of the pants. The Ridgeline pant is a nice upgrade from cotton jeans, if you want a more upscale look for some activities.

They used to make the best pants I ever owned. Now, they just make average pants.
No where nearly as good as the Lightweight Tactical Pants (and shorts) that they used to sell (still there, but only in sizes way too small or too big for most people). Since I thought this would be similar in fit, quality and ergonomics as their Lightweight Tactical Pants (the best pants I have ever owned), I bought them. To my surprise, this pants are just average. They don't fit quite right, the elastic on the waist does not work, the belt loops roll up, the pockets don't work as well, the snap comes unsnapped all the time. Since they have not had my size (36 by 32) or any other normal size in about two years, I am assuming they discontinued the best pants they ever had, and replaced them with average pants.

Durable
My favorite aspect is the reinforced pockets. I can hook tape measures, etc on the pocket without ripping. Also the fact that I have a bit more flexibility because of the crotch gusset. Overall very comfortable and good quality. The fabric is very heavy duty. Slid down mountains in these pants. Spilled things on them. They dry very fast, don't stain. I can even wear them as formal wear. They are nice dark black and the pockets are not very noticeable. Besides some strings hanging off and the small white tag on the side of the pants they are great to wear anywhere.

Flimsy and too small.
I've been wearing other black hawk pants for years, and liked them. But these fit tight even though they're nominally the same size (34-34) and the pocket lining is very fragile. I miss the heavy fabric of the pockets of their old pants. It kept my keys from poking through even after years of regular wearing. The other BH pants that I bought at the same time were unusably tight and equally flimsy in the pockets. I'm done with this brand.

Built well but a little tight around legs
These Blackhawk pants are built well and made with quality materials. So far they have held up well. The only complaint I have is that the pant legs are a bit tight around the thighs. If the legging around both legs were let out about 1 to 2 inches, they would be 5 out of 5 stars.

Great quality and fit
I bought these for my son. He has always been a huge fan of blackhawk clothing due to the quality, fit, and durability. They are hard to find in stock!!
