Nice clock

This wall clock is nicely build and looks great. One thing could have been better is - Color of needles, sometimes needles become difficult to see at different angles as their color matches with the background dial. Darker color needles would make this clock perfect.

Accurate, Smooth, and Quiet

PROS: Handsome appearance; silent operation; high quality wooden frame; keeps accurate time CONS: As mentioned by multiple reviewers, silver hour and minute hands are barely visible against the white background, especially in dim light. Good news: 10-minute fix solves the problem and review moves up to 5 stars. Remove 6 small Phillips screws from back panel to separate frame from clock, carefully paint hands with black permanent marker (use paper or cardboard below clock hands to avoid soiling white background), reassemble and enjoy a perfect wall clock.

Quality Product

Be careful judging this clock via the negative reviews. The movement & build quality of the Bulova C4228 far exceeds the competition at this price-point (at the time of this review). This clock is well built with a movement that far exceeds anything in the 20 to 60 dollar price range. The second hand sweep is smooth & accurate, with absolutely no ticking. If you receive one that makes noise in operation, return or exchange it right away. The Bulova C4228 sits flat against the wall when mounted as designed and the wood surround with metal trim is top-shelf quality. In response to the multiple reviews complaining about how hard this clock is to read - it really depends on your lighting environment. Certainly in low light scenarios, the brushed silver hands can look dim against the lighter background. But everyone's environment can be different and therefore is a highly subjective qualifier. In our home, this clock looks fantastic with moderate to fully bright room. The hands do 'bounce' light differently depending on the conditions & the source of light and with our recessed lighting 'cans' on, the clock is very easy to read. With those same cans off but with a standing floor lamp on, across the room, or with window shades open bringing in lots of natural light, the clock is still very much readable. Only in a dimly lit or darkened room is the clock face harder to read. But who is concerned about that usage scenario most the time anyway? Probably not many as one would think. So the bottom line is this: Simply try it out in your particular environment and 'see' what you think. We tried a number of different clocks in the sub-80 dollar price range and this one is by far, the most well built, good looking and accurate one of them all. And it's completely silent and makes no claim as to the customer needing to avoid Alkaline batteries. The domed lens is a nice touch too.

Beautiful, well designed clock.

I found this clock on other websites but they were sold out. I happened to be shopping on Amazon and found it for less. It is a beautiful clock and looks great on my wall! I am very pleased with my purchase.

Cheap

Just stopped working. Replaced the battery and it started moving the hands but when it had to climb up it hesitated and couldn't keep time. I'm tired of Chinese products not working after awhile.

Beautiful clock

As others commented, the hands, being silver, were very difficult to see in cetain light. I did not read the reviews until I had ordered it so I waited to see how it would work. Couldn't see the time in my kitchen. Well I liked the clock enough to try this: Took the back screw out and removed the back very carefully. Then with a black "Sharpie" I painted or colored in each ( hour, minute and second ) hand. Then I put it back together, and now it is perfect. The combination of wood and metal makes it fit in in my old fashioned eclectic kitchen, or so I think. The size is excellent for viewing (now that I can see the hands) from anywhere in my 15 x 15 foot room.

Beautiful colours, but hands are hard to make out due to their light colour

The clock is very well designed and seems sturdy. Time will tell if it's reliable since it was only purchased about one month ago. The hands are shiny silvery finish with angular two-part sides. The light reflection on the handles can make them hard to distinguish against the pale white background of the clock. Otherwise it is totally silent.
