Buy this and a breaker bar if you care about your wheels!!!
If you own a Porsche, Ferrari, Range Rover, Lamborghini, or Bentley, you need to buy this in the appropriate size and a breaker bar to leave in the vehicle! I'VE PERSONALLY USED GEAR WRENCH OR PERFORMANCE TOOL BRAND ON ALL FIVE MARQUES WHEN I WAS OFF THE BEATEN PATH- no Italian or English service shops in far west Texas! If you get stuck in a small town or on the side of the road, you'll appreciate the breaker bar more than you could ever expect!!! Furthermore, when you go to ANY tire store or dealer and have this protective socket, they know you mean business when it comes to protecting your wheels. Don't EVER let a shop use an impact wrench on high-end wheels- even with this socket. They will moan and complain, but with your breaker bar and this socket, they have no excuse to not remove and put on the lug nuts by hand. Then have them use a torque wrench to the values specified in your owner's manual. Most of the cars I mentioned range from 103 pound feet to 120 pound feet. Damage will not occur anywhere in this range, and there is no safety risk if you don't plan on doing very high-performance driving until you can get an accurate measurement of the torque applied to your lug nuts. I recently had a Range Rover that the shop ignored my instructions and they didn't even use torque sticks with their impact wrench. Within 2 miles I knew something was wrong and pulled over. I was able to get my local Snap-On rep to stop by with a new precision digital meter that read higher than any tool I had. The first lug nut we were able to break over registered 289 ft-lb!!! Rotor warp and a host of other problems would have likely occurred had I not been on top of the problem. I was lucky to not suffer any stud damage on that one... P.S. - If you drive a car and care about the wheels like I do, clean them as well as you can conceivably clean them prior to taking to have tires changed or a puncture repaired. I'm talking about cleaning them so they look like they did the day they rolled off the assembly line. Then have a manager inspect and notate any damage before they get started. By doing this and having the protective socket, he will have his most experienced technician work on your car. With them clean as described, they will know you are particular and won't be able to say that any damage was there before they started. Everyone can be on the same page- I've had many friends and fellow enthusiasts take cars in for new tires only to find damage later that the shop claims was already there just not noticed because of all the road grime and brake dust covering the wheel!

Good for Variety
So these sockets are pretty good for what they are. I work on cars 5 days a week and I use the 21mm all the time. The 21 just broke a week ago. So that's maybe 7 or 8 months of constant use that it survived. I personally like the coated sockets, and when the plastic starts to fall off just use electrical tape to keep it held on. I would say if you work on your car(s) a bit this is pretty good for you. If you need it for a professional environment, it's still not the worst. I would just also get a back up socket for the brand you're working on. Ideally something with a warranty. If you work on all kinds of cars everyday, then this might not be the best for longevity

The colored cover wears off after a while
Its works great! The set sizes are used on most vehicles out there. However the colored covers wears off, but usually supper-glue it back on works fine.

Good buy
Haven't used it but looks solid

Good value, could be thinner
So far so good, only used the 17mm socket but it works. I had to take off the sleeve to get them on my lugs and even then they still touch the wheel but I bought them for use in my drift car so I'm not too worried about the paint on the wheels mainly concerned with getting an impact socket that works. You can also pop out the plastic piece on the inside that hits the lugs if needed, it was easy to pop out with a screwdriver or a punch.

Great Sockets
Work like a charm. Seem to be very solid. Backed by limited warranty.

An Excellent Set
If you own a vehicle with a nice set of alloy wheels or work in a shop and deal with alloys wheels on a regular basis having this GearWrench set of thin-wall impact sockets will certainly be a welcomed addition to your toolbox as the included plastic protectors that slide on to these sockets will keep wheels from being scratched but can be easily removed if you need that little bit of extra clearance (often an issue on aftermarket wheels that support more than one bolt pattern). Not to mention this set comes with 17mm, 19mm and 21mm sockets so you do have coverage for most domestic and foreign vehicles on the roads today, though you will have to buy a 22mm socket separately for larger vehicles such as later model Honda Odysseys, or larger vehicles such as pickup trucks and SUV's. One key note though is don't purchase this set expecting them to become the only impact socket set you'll ever need. Any thin-wall socket, regardless of manufacturer, will eventually break so if you don't need the thin-wall clearance or protection features of these sockets (say putting on or taking off winter steel wheels), stick to standard impact sockets and these should last for years to come. But even with that disclaimer, I have to say these GearWrench versions have been holding up well in my shop use and I see no reason why these won't last as long as the professional brands offerings (though I will update my review if I ever break one). Plus, I do appreciate the color coding the protectors on the sockets as it makes it quite easy to grab the right size quickly. So while this isn't a complete set for your average technician, at the price point and quality GearWrench delivers here, I can't deduct a star for not including a 22mm and I would definitely recommend picking up a set of if you deal with alloy wheels and would like to keep them looking nice. Update: Dec 2018: Well I finally broke one of these sockets while attempting to remove the wheel nuts on a vehicle with aftermarket wheels where the wheel nuts were severely over tightened. But considering the cost of the sockets and the fact I got nearly 3 years of use out of it, I'm simply buying another set. The professional brands want double the price of this set for 1 socket and they don't last any longer so I see no reason why I should pay more for less.

Great buy. Not so great warranty coverage in Canada.
Update (7/24/17): Contacted GearWrench and they notified me that this product does not have a lifetime warranty. Also quoted from their website, "Product Exceptions to the Standard Limited Lifetime Warranty: Tool Boxes, Bits, Bit Sockets, Taps, Dies, Files, Torque Products". I wish that this was made clear in this ad. They offered to replace the product due to its short lifespan, however I would have to mail the entire set to them, and I would have to pay to ship it to them in the US. Considering the initial cost of the product, I decided not to go through with it. If this is how GearWrench services its Canadian clients, then I am better off buying tools off the truck or buying them from Canadian Tire. They have unfortunately lost a customer, which is a shame because they sell excellent products. Update (6/18/17): These will not work for *some* aftermarket wheels. If these do not work for you, a snap-on socket is about $40 off the truck, and it is slightly thinner than this. My 21mm socket finally broke after about a year and a half of daily use by myself and others (I leave it out). Needless to say, it has seen a lot of abuse. To be more specific, it has been used for removing/installing wheels, and a few suspension bolts. I've seen the aforementioned snap-on socket break after far less. Looking into getting the 21 replaced now. Still stand by this purchase. Update: I have been using this product for well over 6 months and they have stood up to a lot of abuse. The covers do slide off really easily so if they are important to you, you may need to use some adhesive to keep them on. Personally, I prefer having them off but there are situations where they come in handy. Original Review: Bought these not realizing that they are thin-wall sockets. Worked out perfectly because that's what I ended up needing at the dealership I work for. They'll come in handy for aftermarket and/or aluminum alloy wheels. Time will tell how long these last but they appear well made. The covers don't slide off when first purchased but look like they could slide off after some use. Others have said that it will slide off but that wouldn't be a huge issue for me. Will update this review in the future.

It's not thin walled enough.
It's high quality, but it's not thin walled enough. No point of having protecting sleeves if they end up scuffing up the wheels. I have 17mm bolts on VMR wheels and 19mm nuts on GramsLights.

Five Stars
Quality is great, for the money it is an absolutely great set. edit: after 2 weeks use the sleeves are coming off and the sockets are starting to show some wear... i guess you get what you pay for

Excellent tool
Had a set of SAE lug sockets and these metric ones are a great addition, protective sleeve is a bonus. Haven't used the 17mm but 19mm gets used on my sister's Malibu, 21mm gets used on my Nissan Altima and my dads's Santa Fe
