Very thick but not tight fitting like thinner base layers
The fabric is almost as thick as a sweat shirt. I really like the fuzzy texture of the interior- makes it much warmer. The cut is a bit big but that is understandable since the fabric is not as stretchy as thinner base layers. Have washed 3 times with no problems.

This is too bulky for a base layer.
If you're looking for a thin, silky base layer this is not the one. ColdPruf does have that, but it's not the Expedition. I bought this by mistake. DH uses it as a warm shirt, slightly thinner than a sweatshirt. It pills some. Sizing runs on small size, he is a pretty consistent XXL, but this one is cut short in length- he has an average torso length at 6'2" and has to wear out. The black fades pretty quick on this style and wrists are just hemmed not rib knitted so cold can get in. I would say designers never wore these to call them "Expedition". Maybe "Loungewear" would be more accurate. We're keeping because they can be used as regular shirts.

Do not buy if you plan on using in temperatures above absolute zero!!
Will this keep you warm? Only in the Earthly temperature range. If planning an expedition to the frigid expanse of nothingness that is outer space, you may want to consider something a bit thicker. Or maybe just add a light jacket. I bought a couple of these for a month-long det in Fallon, NV during January. The color matches with NWU type III requirements perfectly. But despite temperatures approaching 0 and steady winds, I had no need for the fleece or any other combination of outerwear - this undershirt was more than enough even for a cold-averse person like me. You’ll probably want to consider the lighter weight version of this!!

Could not be more legit
I've had sweat suits thinner than these. Worth every penny, felt warmth radiating back almost instantly.

These are great for adding to a lightweight or mid weight base layer. It is very thin but when combined with my other base layer shirt, works great for when I would snowboard or winter hike

If you must stay warm and work outdoors, then the choice is clear.
Oh my! How nice it is to actually be warm when there is 2 inches of ice on the ground and a windchill of 11 degrees. Would you believe thats Texas i’m talking about? If you

Does work really good as an extra thermal layer
It’s a bit baggy where it shouldn’t be. In the shoulders and in the arms. Does work really good as an extra thermal layer, but the workmanship of it is such that I would never wear it as a top without something over it.

Beautiful... but poorly made
Very disappointed. The top looks good and fits great. Fells good on the skin. And the price is right. Only one problem: Within 2 weeks of receiving it (on the 3rd wearing) the stitching unraveled all the way from the bottom to the armpit on one side. I can no longer wear it. I would send it back for a replacement, but sending it back will cost me as much as I paid for it. I just don't think I will be purchasing from this supplier again.
