Holy cow, these boots are amazing!!! I wore them in Mammoth in 10 feet of fresh powder with occasional negative degree temperatures, and my feet were so nice and toasty! They’re rated for -25 F and I believe it. I wore a single pair of wool socks and couldn’t have asked for warmer feet. I even bought those little warming packets just in case, but I never even had to unpack them. These boots were extremely comfortable, the soles provide good grip on snow and ice (I mean nothing will be perfect on ice except maybe metal studs, but these are good!), and the way they’re designed, even if you walk in super high powdery snow and snow falls into the top opening, the bottom part (starting above the ankle) is tapered and the snow never actually falls into the area with your feet, and further, you never feel the cold where the snow is. I had snow pants with the extra powder layer, so if you’re wearing regular pants you might feel it more on your legs, but I doubt you’re climbing in 10 feet of fresh snow with jeans on so it’s a moot point. The snow was so powdery and high that I couldn’t even go snowshoeing, but I did attempt to do a hike wearing these boots, and I was sinking in to about my shoulders with each step. The activity was quickly abandoned, but I spent many hours exploring in the snow and ice, and these boots stood up to the task like a champ. I was worried because they’re a tad shorter than what I originally wanted, but as I stated, the design removes the concerns I had about snow falling in. I usually wear a 7.5-8 and I read reviews about people finding these shoes to be small or uncomfortable, so I went with a size 8. I rarely have problems with shoes, but sometimes I do find certain ballet style flats to be on the tight side until they stretch a little, so I don’t think my feet are extremely narrow. It’s probably the design meant to keep the snow out that some people find challenging because it feels tight slipping your foot in, but once your heel is all the way in, it’s roomy and very nice, and there isn’t any tightness anywhere. Obviously, everyone’s feet are different, but I really love these boots and the way they fit! They say waterproof on them and I have found this to be true. My feet were 100% dry after hours of trudging through really high snow. They’re also lightweight and kind of pretty, so you can wear them anywhere, from a backcountry snow hike to après-ski drinks at the bougiest resorts.
