Nice fit, but stitching/fabric quality questionable
5/10/2022 - 4 Stars first impressions My first impression is that these pants fit me great. I am 5'9" 175lb and the 32x32 fits perfectly. I would describe the cut as a true slim-fit as they fit exactly the same as any slim-fit jeans would on me and they taper quite well to my legs, giving me an attractive profile. If you are a person who has thicker legs, these pants would probably fit you maybe too snugly. The material feels very comfortable and smooth against the skin, but they are not that stretchy. This coupled with the fact that there were questionable stitching quality issues (see image) found in several places all over the pants leaves me wondering just how long these pants will last. Squatting down into a full, deep squat tugged along the entire inseam stitching and I would be afraid that it could completely split open a pant leg while on trail someday. The product description includes the sentence "We use only the highest quality materials, expert craftsmanship, and durable stitching. This is a rugged pair of trail-ready pants you'll enjoy for seasons to come", but we will see about that. Another questionable choice in my opinion is that Columbia decided to put snap fasteners on the back pockets, front left thigh pocket, and waist closure instead of regular buttons for some reason which I do not agree with. Keep in mind the lack of stretch that the material has, when you try to open one of these snap fasteners, it tugs on the fabric quite a lot. As mentioned before, the material feels very nice against the skin and is quite cool. This is definitely a warm weather pant and will not provide you with any insulation during the colder months. This bodes well for those who live in warm places and/or people who prefer to wear pants during summer as protection against the sun and ticks/bugs. There are mesh vents covered by a flap behind the knees which seem like they will provide some airflow. The Omni-Shield fabric also provides some decent water repellency (not waterPROOFING) as I ran it under the faucet and the water flowed right off. The two front thigh pockets aren't the most voluminous and storing anything thicker than a phone or something bulky in them would be uncomfortable. It's nothing special, but I appreciate that a removable belt is included which gets the job done. The cinch ties at the leg openings function well. I am an avid hiker and will be testing these pants often. This review will get updated as time goes on.

Cheap
I was hoping that other's reviews had been nitpicky and that I would find these pants to be good quality. I am however pretty sad to know that Columbia decided to brand this junk with their name. Pros: 1) Very lightweight. I personally hate heavy fabrics and therefore lean towards synthetics. 2) The material itself feels like it will last more than 6 months, which sadly has become my expectation with the quality of pants/shorts these days. Cons: 1) Cargo pockets are in a very awkward place. It is both odd looking and uncomfortable to have anything in them. 2) The zippers, while better constructed than some, have a tendency to catch repeatedly while closing. 3) The pockets, like many cheap brands of pants are made with a fishnet mesh that I fear won't last long. 4) The material makes the snowpants swish sound with every step (Unless you have a womanly gap between your thighs, and then more power to you I guess). 5) Most importantly, the buttons. I didn't think I'd mind plastic buttons since I personally am allergic to nickel--which means most metals that would be used for buttons. Plastic buttons is just one less thing to worry about for me. And then, the very first time I put a pair of these on one of the rear pocket buttons broke off. Since then the other two pairs have been catching on my car door frame every time I get in my car and I'm sure they will break soon as well. I don't use my back pockets so it's not a pitfall for me, but I am obviously concerned that the main button will also break at some point. 6) The rear pocket buttons come undone on their own, for those of you who might use them. 7) The stitching is fairly precise, but there are quite a few trailing threads visible, albeit short ones. Not a huge concern for me as long as they don't start unraveling, but some of you may feel different.
