Comfortable with long walks
These shoes were a gift for my wife who takes long walks. She loves these shoes and wears them on her walks, shopping and out in the yard. They are very comfortable as well as stylish. These shoes are highly recommended for every day use or just walking/hiking.

Not bad....
I don't like ordering shoes online, but for the most part, I'm pretty happy with these Columbia Redmonds. For the price, they weren't bad; here are some Pros and Cons after wearing them for the first time on a short hike: Pros/Positive: They look great. I love the colors and I've already gotten a few compliments on them. --They fit well, although they're a bit snug. I got a 7-1/2, and while my feet aren't real wide, they seem a bit tight width wise. They're o.k. with one pair of socks, but with 2 pair or a very thick pair, they would be too tight. --The terrain here in AZ is mostly rocks/sand, and they did very well with that. The soles are just the right thickness for hiking on gravel/rocks/sand. I can't attest to the waterproof-ness of them as it rarely rains here in southern Arizona, and that wasn't a consideration when I bought them. Cons: They have very little (if any) padding inside, and the sole is very hard. I know it'll take time to break them in, but I can't see the inside sole softening up much. I may end up having to get gel inserts at some point. --As others pointed out, the laces are very hard to keep tied. They're made of slippery nylon material and even though I tied them very tight to begin with they came untied a couple times during my hike. --Also, although the description says 'breathable', my feet sweated a lot with these, and I usually don't have that problem. It may be due to the 'waterproof' aspect of the shoe, I'm not sure. Other than those things though, I do like them so far. Only time will tell how they'll hold up, although they look fairly well made. I was a little irked though because the day after I ordered them, I noticed the price dropped about $25. I was thinking of cancelling my order and re-ordering them, but didn't want to go through the hassle.

Sturdy and Great for Daily Wear
I love these hiking shoes! I needed something versatile and waterproof, and they fit the bill. They're sturdy and look great with jeans and other casual wear. Like all things Columbia, an investment that will last. Their pro for me will be a con for some people. The toe box is narrow, which allows the shoe to fit like a glove. I pronate, so the added support is welcomed. This said, I don't recommend them if your feet are wide. The shoes run a little small. I usually wear a size 8. In hindsight, I think an 8.5 would have been better. Because of the tight fit, I wouldn't be able to wear thick socks on really cold days. I find the shoe laces overly long for this style of shoe - better suited for regular hiking boots. It's not an issue for casual use, but could be a problem if you plan to hike off path, do heavy yard work, or other activities where the shoes could have heavy contact. The laces might get caught. All in all, I love these shoes and highly recommend them for day-to-day wear.

Nice shoes
A little wide in the heel, but I have a narrow heel. Use them for twice daily walks up our rocky road, gardening etc. I usually put them on in the morning and wear them all day. This is my second pair. After 6 mos. or so the first pair has a couple small tears and are no longer waterproof. So, I wear them on dry days.

Just didn’t fit my foot
It also had a defect in fabric section of the toe, hard to describe but was a crease that rubbed the top of my toes

Spotty waterproofing. Return window too short!!
I love the overall fit and comfort of these hikers but water gets into the left shoe. I bought these shoes for morning dog walks. The grass is almost always wet so I needed shoes that would keep my feet dry. On the first walk I noticed water got into the right shoe along the border with the leather upper and the sole. I sprayed them with boot waterproofing spray and that took care of the leak. However, after about 3 weeks of daily walks the left shoe let water in at the heel underneath the shoe liner. I tried the spray on it but nothing that I do works. The right shoe is now fine but the left shoe always takes on water. I am guessing it comes in somewhere on the sides and pools at the heal, leading to soaking wet socks. The return window is only 30 days. I wish that I had returned them when they first had a problem. Advice: Don't try to fix them just return them if they leak.

Great hiking shoe
These hikers are very light and comfortable and fit true to size. They had great traction on some wet leaves this past weekend on my favourite hiking trail and kept my feet dry. I wish I had ordered these months ago. So much better than my running shoes!

Great shoe
Don't like ordering shoes online, prefer to try them on, but during covid in the UK and no shops open I was desperate for new walking shoes. These fit perfectly, first time out five miles, no blisters or rubbing, enough padding on the soles. Have since done many more miles with no complaints. Great color, not the usual browns or blacks, the plum was a bit more stylish. EDIT: Today I wore them in the rain and unfortunately they are not waterproof as advertised. Shame as this is why I bought them.

Good quality walking shoe
Bought these shoes for my wife. She's delighted with them - they seem to be of very good quality and comfortable from the word go; no breaking in necessary. We used foot length measurements and the size chart on the Columbia website to determine the required size, and the size we purchased was spot on. We can't comment yet on the waterproofing, but some reviewers have commented negatively after walking through wet grass. I strongly suspect that, on wet grass, socks will tend to carry water (like a wick) to the inside of the shoe - I think any low shoe would struggle in those conditions.
