Great jacket for the price. I originally had the NorthFace thermoball eco jacket and found it poorly made (it ripped) especially for $300+ price tag. Returned it and took a chance on this at sub $200. After a year i have to say its awesome. Has kept me pretty warm in the MN weather. Really enjoy ALL the pockets especially the inside chest pocket which the North Face lacked. Also it has a TON of pockets with zippers and buttons very handy. That hood is prob the best feature. It is lined with cotton and is very warm. I have gotten away with not wearing a hat just because of that. The one knock I do have is that I wish the cotton insulation would have extended all the way down to the waist instead of ending mid torso. Other than that I can't complain. 1 year after use I did notice a rip on the armpit seam. More so my fault but it is a great value for the price. I am contemplating buying a 2nd one in a diff color.

Attractive, but cheaply made jacket
I think Columbia nailed the styling on this jacket. It's an attractive jacket with some nice details that make it feel a little more stylish than most performance jackets. However, I wasn't impressed with the quality. Given that the jacket is generally cheaper than Eddie Bauer, North Face or LL Bean and looks better than their comparable jackets, it might be OK if you know what you're getting. The flip side is that the materials seem to be on the cheaper side and some small corners seemed to have been cut in it's design that could have made it a lot better. The outer shell is very thin and prone to wrinkling and the fleece lining feels a bit plastically and isn't very soft. In general, the jacket probably strikes a good balance between slim fitting and boxy for most, but it's a bit too boxy for me (I'm athletic build). However, one pet peeve is that the sleeves are pretty wide around it's opening and don't have any type of elastic cuff to keep out the cold air. As far as keeping you warm, the jacket is definitely warm enough for 25-40's of late fall in New England, but it lacks a bit of versatility in that it's not super breathable. In contrast to down or other even other synthetically lined jackets, I definitely started to sweat when I got indoors with this on.

Very well made, very warm
I ordered two Columbia jackets for my husband, not sure which would be the warmest or highest quality. I was 98% sure this one would be the clear winner. It feels like better quality all around. It seems warmer, has more pockets, less opportunity for cold air to come in. However, my husband chose the lighter jacket, because he's always hot. He said this one made him feel like he should be trekking through a blizzard. So if you're concerned it won't be warm, you shouldn't be. This one has been deemed too warm for Virginia winters. Also, I should note that the outer material is super thick and durable. My husband didn't like that either, go figure.

Fine coat
I do not like giving out 5 stars a lot; it’s just that rarely do I find something that is really good- that fills a specific niche. I am not into fashion, but function. That said, I really like this jacket. I live in an area that has gotten a lot of rain this year. I had a nice “ coated” jacket- one that is “sorta waterproofed”, but the waterproofing can wear off. Yeaaaah, right. There is nothing worse than finding yourself in a deluge, and realizing that the waterproofing is done-horrible. This jacket does it all well. It is well thought out. The hood is attached, not buttoned on ( a real idiot move by some jacket designers). It really covers the entire upper body, not just sort of, but well. It appears to be well thought out. I also like the color- a small fact for me, but important. Overall, my respect for Columbia my increased since getting this jacket. It has served me well this rainy season.

Great Jacket
Well made, light in weight, warm, comfortable, great pockets, exterior chest pocket is handy to keep my smart phone, hood is great on windy, stormy days, waist draw string keeps cold from traveling up my back. My jacket is steel black color, the only feature I wish they would have added is some light reflective patch, so cars can see me at night. I already have this on my dog's jacket and leash.

Very warm coat!
I ordered this for my boyfriend. When we first opened it the coat felt thin so I thought it might not be a very good winter coat. He wore the coat home, which we live in Michigan so it's pretty cold. He told me the next day that the coat is super warm and definitely will withstand the Michigan winters. I would 100% reccomend this coat to anyone looking to get a new one.

A tad bigger than other Columbia coats/jackets.
Decent quality and very comfortable. You won't need anything but a T-shirt underneath, as it is very thick and warm.

One of the best coats I’ve owned.

Poor Quality Zipper
The jacket is very comfortable and warm and great fitting. But not even 2 days in and the zipper is malfunctioning. Returning. Very unfortunate for an otherwise great jacket.
