Watercolor Pencils
I love these watercolor pencils. I just sketch a flower, and add a little water and brush and make amazing paintings!

I find these fun
I am a middle aged person that tried these one time and had to order some. They make coloring more fun. I love to paint and color this is a nice combo. Easy to use all you need is to get a cup of water and dip them in every time you go to use. You may have to dip several times if coloring a large area with the same color, but nonetheless still fun.

Nice for the price
Two pencils had broken lead when I tried sharpening them. The colors are limited. The colors do blend nicely when water is brushed over after drawing.

Good deal
I'm not an artist, I just want to level up my coloring, so I didn't need/want to buy an expensive set. One thing that I liked was that there's a peach included as well as a white and two greys. I'm not used to being able to get peach in a cheap set of coloring utensils. What I noticed was that blending between two similar colors worked really well. I got different results depending on whether I started with the lighter or darker color. I almost always dipped the pencil in water first. Getting into tiny areas was difficult and sometimes the water ran into another color. It's probably the same for regular watercolor painting? The smallest amount of water makes the colors DARK. The green beads in my pic were colored with the same green. The darker ones were colored with a wet pencil. The lighter ones were colored with a dry pencil and then gone over lightly with a wet white pencil. There's no pink so I tried to make one with a lighter purple and white. No dice. Mixing with white didn't work out for me at all. There's the spots where I tried to make pink or highlight the gemstones, and then there's the tragedy that happened with the blue moon on the left. The regular blue was really dark with water. The lighter blue was really saturated and still kinda dark for what I was trying to do so I tried to add white but it didn't blend well, it faded the black outline of the picture, and it made a waxy puddle that was hard to work with. After I took this picture I went over the lines with a pencil which helped some. Blending with the greys to get a darker color, (even using the lighter grey) make the color way too dark. I think that's just the general theme here. It doesn't take much to get "too dark." It's probably easier to work with bigger pictures that don't have such tiny details. You'd have more area to blend. Overall I really like these. I just need to get used to using them. They're super vibrant and blend pretty nicely if you use a light touch and know what you're doing. That's all I was looking for, just a bit better than crayons or colored pencils, but not crazy dark like markers tend to be in coloring books.

Great for newbies
Being brand spanking new to this media I didn't want to spend much so I took a chance. Yep they're cheap...but seem to work pretty well. I'll probably upgrade if I don't suck too bad at this new hobby.

A must have for the artist in you
Why wasnt I told about this in 2020... For the ones who dont know, this is a special type of colored pencil. You draw and color with these pencils, but the best thing is that you take a paint brush, dip in water, go over the drawing and it turns into a watercolor masterpiece! Wow! I love to paint but I cant draw with a brush. Now this awesome item allows me to do both. The great thing is that I have used it with my 2nd graders and it has been a game changer. No messy paint. No disfigured paint faces. Being on a budget is something I struggle with, and yet this wasnt a worry for me since the price is just right. I couldnt find them at any stores I usually shop for art items so finding it on Amazon solved this problem. I am glad I came across this item!

Ok Set...Aqua keeps breaking
This is an ok set of watercolor pencils. The aqua is defective in my set. It broke right out of the box and everytime it is sharpened it breaks. So the watercolor paint in the casing is defective. The set doesn't provide a beige but it provides a salmon and peach which are very close in color. It doesn't provide a pink, but magenta, raspberry and red violent, again close in color. It doesn't include a light brown, but two types of grey. I couldn't get the white to show up on my watercolor paper, so not sure how it performs. If you look closely at the picture of the aqua pencil, you see the broken lead, for lack of a better term, and the lead in the pencil is bent. It will break when I use a hint of pressure 2 stars for the damaged pencil and color selection 4 stars for how nicely it picks up color and spreads with my waterbrush pen I won't purchase again, I will purchase a brand that doesn't break when sharpening or coloring/painting. UPDATED 5-21-2017 I have changed my mind and rating, and I will be purchasing a larger set of these watercolor pencils in the future. Although the aqua green keeps breaking when I sharpen it, I am able to use the broken tip, by wetting it and applying to my watercolor paper. I am able to achieve what I want. These colors are lovely when you wet the tip and lay down the color and when you apply the wet pencil over color. The intensity of the color changes. I have been working on this painting for several days. I discovered the peach works great as sand. And the peach, light grey and brown looks great on the rocks. I am a novice when it comes to watercolor painting and coloring. Working with these pencils and water brushes makes creating watercolor paintings mess free and with better control than working wirh pan paints, brushes and a cup of water.
