Size for the price isn't worth it and the smell is that of a greaser for tools. Like a WD40. It's cool but odd if you want your wig smelling tight.

Smells Lightly of Birthday Cake, but Works Well

I purchased this months and months ago. I am not a fan of the scent, it smells like sweet like birthday cake or a sweet, sweet milkshake. But the scent doesn't seem to waft away from your hair once applied so it's not like you're wearing a delicious after shave that will bring all the boys to the yard. It's light in the hair, not at all greasy, not at all shiny, and has a good hold for styling your hair into a "natural look" if that's what you're going for. 10/10 would recommend, but if you get triggered by birthday cake then maybe go with something else.

Decent

Pretty solid. Matte finish, good texture, goes on very light but ends up having a reliable medium hold. For me and my thick hair, I prefer a hair cream like this to have a slight bit of shine to soften my hair. I don’t mind a matte finish on something stronger but this just leaves my hair a little poofy. Probably perfect for thin hair though.

What you’ve been looking for

I never leave reviews, but this is the best hair product I’ve ever purchased. I was skeptical of the size for the price, but it’s definitely worth it. It gives me a flexible hold without feeling like I have anything in my hair. Lightweight and not greasy at all. I touch my hair constantly throughout the day and it holds strong. I have fine hair and have gone through so many different products looking for the perfect fit. I’ve finally found it.

Works well but the smell is kinda funny

The stuff works great as a hair paste (better than the American crew stuff, especially because it washes out easily without shampoo) but the smell isn’t very nice… almost like an old candle or something. Guess that makes sense based off the ingredients but it would be a solid 5 star product without the scent (or maybe with some kind of light fragrance).

42g not 58g as advertised!!!

No idea why advertised and listed as 58g it is only 42g a per the smaller pot available elsewhere

Too expensive for 2 tablespoons of product

Product is great but the size is terrible it’s about the size of a reps sample . 2 table spoons I’ve never paid so much for such a tiny product . Would buy it from someone else next time

Super fast easy styling

Thought I'd try before going out just now. After a short blow dry and small amount of American crew grooming spray this cream tamed my unruly waves in a matter of minutes. Really easy to use. From wash to finished hair in about 5 minutes, great!

Fantastic pomade, great feel

I used to use Old Spice Spiffy pomade, which was the medium hold matte finish one, but they recently changed the formula and totally destroyed the product, so I started trying some other brands. Layrite was the perfect replacement and is a noticeable upgrade. Spreads very easily through your hair, has a good medium hold which allows you to easily restyle on the fly by just running your hands through your hair, and little to no residue is left on your hands. The finish has a noticeable shine when your hair catches some light, but doesn't look greasy or wet. The cream soda scent is smooth and subtle, and the product washes out easily. I will say though, it is definitely on the high end of the price spectrum when it comes to pomades, for comparison the current Old Spice is $5 for 65g, Dove Men Medium hold is $8 for 49g, Layrite is $13 for 42g, and Reuzel is $19 for 35g. It's more expensive than it'd like it to be, but out of the products I've tried this was the best for my hair. Just bought a 297g tub, definitely a better value. The 42g tub lasted me about 2 months using it almost daily.

By far the best hair product I own

I have super stiff hair that normally doesn’t play well with any pomade it’s gel’s. My hair always ends up back flat down after a bit of light movement. Layrite was able to keep my hair up perfectly all day in the positions I set it in. 10/10 would recommend to people with stiffer hair!
