Easy to mount, bright and reliable
Bought another set for my second bike just to save the (few) minutes swapping mounts back and forth between bikes. Also like being able to clip the tail light to my camelback for evening walks. The headlight slips easilly into a pocket, too, and makes for a super flashlight in a pinch. Original set going on 4 years without a problem.

Headlight lasted 8 years; taillight is still working at 8 years
Headlight made me visible to cars and allowed me to see the ground when cycling on commuter trails and city streets at night. Lasted 8 years, though in the last few years it would sometimes cut off in the middle of my 45 minute commute. Taillight is still going strong. It is VERY bright. Get comments on their brightness all the time from other cyclists. I've recharged them about once per week.

Very bright
It is very bright but not all that secure. Feels like anyone could come up to my bike when it's locked and steal the lights easily. Especially the front light.

Super bright headlight taillight combo, especially for the price!
Having a flashing headlight on your bike is nothing short of amazing in terms of the road manners of most people driving cars and my visibility on a bike. After I fully charged the duo, I mounted them and went for a ride. While doing barely 1 mph on my bike and fiddling with my pedals to make sure I was ready for another sprint, I arrived at a T junction where a girl stopped her car at the junction; She was waiting for me to pass by. It was only when I looked up and realized that she was still watching and waiting well over 15 seconds for someone who was 30 ft away from her, and barely moving, did I realize the effectiveness of the "day lightening" mode. And I called out to say, "go ahead." After I got going, I caught up with her fairly quickly as this was winding, coastal road with a 25 mph limit and humpback whales breaching the azure waters not more than 100 yards off the coast. Therefore she wasn't flying down the road and I got up to speed in no time. I got to her bumper and was to her right, after a block of riding in that area and realizing her unwillingness (or inability to see me) to give me space, I rode out towards the center of the road so that she would see me - sure enough, it worked and she pulled to the left, giving me a wide berth and let me pass unhindered - to continue trying to beat my personal record for another segment on my Strava App. I think this is a fantastic purchase! The brightness is more than enough and maybe when I take my cross bike off road, I may need another light, in which case I might upgrade to the metro 500 or an expillion or just get another metro 360...TBD. Quick thoughts on products: 1. I charged both lights using an iPhone brick - the computer is too slow. 2. The lights were shipped with charge but the instructions indicated that they must be fully charged before use, I did so. 3. I did the metro first and played around with it while the hotshot was getting charged. The "walking" mode is a really low output but perfectly suited for a walking pace. The other modes are well thought out. 4. My day time go to mode is the day lightening and dusk/dark mode is the one with a triple flash and a steady output at the same time. 5. I realized very quickly that I'd made a mistake with the hotshot as I pulled it out of the charged by the plug but I forgot to disconnect the cable from the plug. The hotshot was discharged while being left as such and had to be fully charged again. So, remember to disconnect the lights from the USB cords after charging or they will discharge. 6. The Hotshot is supremely bright as well and infinitely adjustable to your specific flashing needs! Just make sure you've aimed it correctly and tightened the bolts up and you're good to go! One more thing: If you put your bare palm in front of the light, you WILL feel the heat. These CREE LED's are pretty amazing. (Don't expect them to start a fire for you though) *****4 Year Update***** Still going strong! I use these lights during the daytime when there's a lot of traffic as well as at dusk when riding back home from work. The charge holds well on the headlight whereas the rear (arguably more important than the front) loses its charge after 3 days. Considering I bought these lights in 2013 and it's 2017 - I'd say their output and slight loss in ability to hold charge absolutely okay!

Great lights, good value
During winter, I have to bike home from work after sunset. Part of my commute takes me on multi-purpose trails which have no street lights, so its both very dark and unpaved, which I wanted a good light for. These are a pretty powerful set of lights which improves visibility substantially. I was debating between purchasing this set and one of the more powerful lights of the same series, but it turns out that this one is sufficiently bright for how fast I go (I cover about 4.5 miles in 20-25 minutes, with about half of that trip on gravel-covered trails and half on paved areas). The package came with: - front light - rear light - front light clamp mount - rear light clamp mount - Mini USB charging cable So far, I have used them in cold weather and in a snowstorm without issues. The lights seem to be fairly waterproof, as long as the rubber cover for the USB port is securely in place. The clamp mounts are very easy to install, as the front one can be attached by hand and the rear one only requires a Philips screwdriver. Each of the bike-mounted holders has a quick-release tab so that the lights can be removed from the mounting system on the bike. Some of the other reviewers complained that these tabs were hard to manipulate, but I have had no issues with either the front or rear lights being hard to remove. I have been able to manage this both with and without gloves on. I take them off my bike every day when I get to work because I have to park outside and I don't want people messing with my stuff. I guess you can also use the headlight as a flashlight after its detached from the bike. Part of the mounting system of the rear light module is a clip, so it can be attached to a backpack instead of being bike-mounted. There is no wall adapter for the USB cable. You can either charge the lights with your computer, or get a USB to outlet adapter. There's a good chance you already own a few of these anyway, and if you don't, they are very inexpensive. One annoying thing is that the USB charging port is a USB Mini-B. While it is a standard USB connection, most of my devices (phone, tablet, digital camera, e-reader, etc.) have Micro USB connections, so now I have one extra cable that I need to carry around. Not a huge issue since the charging cable is provided, but I already have a lot of micro-USB cables at home and in the office so another device with the same connection would have been very convenient. The price may seem a bit high, but I think these lights are worth it. They are bright enough that I am fairly confident that cars will be able to notice me. I am also able to see quite well in situations when there is no overhead lighting. I also appreciate that they are rechargeable, and I feel that not having to replace batteries frequently adds significantly to the value of the lights.

Great overall product
I have the earlier, dimmer version of this product and it is fantastic. No complaints. Just bought this one for another bike, but I will still use the old one on the original bike. Great product.

Old out dated technology, do not buy
WARNING: in 2019 these lights are still USB 2.0 ports for no reason. Don't get these, or if you do save another cord because you probably won't be able to charge them if you don't. This is ridiculous.

Solid and good mount
I have three cygolite sets, 400, 700 and 800 headlight and the brighter the better. I also have olight 1500 and it is super bright but the mount is terrible.

La luz trasera no sirve
Después de apenas 3 meses de compra la luz trasera dejo de funcionar. Por más que la cargué le dura la pila no más de 5 minutos. De muy mala calidad a pesar de ser un producto caro. No recomiendo que lo compren

Those lights are incredible
I bought a set for my wife and I for our trip to the Cabot Trail. With all the hills and blind corners and fog, they made a huge difference when we were approached by cars from both directions. Even on a bright, sunny day, I was able to see the daylight flash on my wife's bike from 500 metres away. Every cyclist should have these lights!
