Very Cool Steampunk Sculpture
It's true this sculpture is seemingly almost one color with some darker areas, so I took the liberty of jazzing it up with some metallic silver and copper paints. The difference seems a bit subtle in my photos, but I guarantee you it looks much better in real life. I admire the amount of detail that went into this piece and its spidery legs do look a little creepy. Unfortunately there were two stickers on it when I took it out of the box and even though I tried to peel the stickers off as gently as possible, they took tiny bits of paint with them and I had to cover up the damage with my own paint :/ Other than that, I enjoy this funky steampunk crabmarine!

Disappointed
Some of the sculpture was missing around the legs as if the plastic had broken off where the legs join the body, pieces were not in the packaging. Very fragile. Sad to give as a requested gift.. :(

I like it but...
Interesting little sculpture, but mine isn't quite so detailed. It's pretty much one color. The shape and the detailing on the piece is still nice but I wish there was a bit more contrast between colors to make it 'pop'.

Great piece of steampunk art.
An awesome piece of artwork for those steampunk-inclined. The design is quite good and it looks like a cross between a submarine and an octopus. The legs and gears look real as if it might start running after you like one of those evil robotic spiders in the old movie Runaway. It’s not too heavy, but would make an excellent paperweight. It’s sturdy and made well with a lot of detail work. None of the pieces move or twist but it’s certainly fun to look at. Great piece of statuary that spruces up the steampunk aesthetic.

Great addition to any Sci-Fi collector
Great addition to any Sci-Fi collector. I loved the look as i placed it near my Fallout PIPBOY and my Dead Space Plasma cutter.

Good concept, poorly realised.
The Toscano Steampunk Octopod Mechanical Steampunk Sculpture was a little disappointing. This is a fairly large octopod sculpture that is a nice idea but doesn’t quite work. The main issue is that it looks like cheap plastic rather than a bronze/copper arthropod submarine – the paint quality isn’t good enough to make this look realistic. Also none of the parts move, it would have been more impressive if the appendages actually flexed. It was also a struggle to remove the barcode stickers from the sculpture without leaving marks. That said, I still quite like the concept and it could be improved with a better metallic paint finish.

Good....from a distance.
I'm in a bit of two minds about this one. As a Steampunk inspire piece of art, it's actually quite good looking...from a distance. Up close it doesn't quite hold the eye as well and neither does the detail stand up to too much scrutiny. It's fairly lightweight but sturdy enough to sit in the garden (it hasn't blown away in the recent winds here). It makes a nice talking point but again, closer inspection from your friends won't delight them as much. Would also make a great informal paperweight in the office. If you don't set your expectations too highly, this is a nice piece of design.

Steampunk octopus
I am a fan of steampunk so was pleased to be offered this octopus. However, although at first glance it looked impressive, on further detailed inspection it was sadly lacking in steampunk authenticity. It's too plastic, with everything firmly fixed so no moving parts. To me it looks like a cheap novelty toy that you might buy from a discount shop.

For Steampunk fans.....
Steampunk fans will like this mechanical octopus. I expected it would have some moving parts but was disappointed to find it is solid. Mine looks OK but is not as well finished as the one in the photograph and is lighter than expected. Ideal as an interesting paperweight or for display among other steampunk or sci-fi artifacts.
