Great Door Greeter

I feel like this guy all the time. I was very pleased when I received this statue. It wasn't as big as what I expected, but then again, neither am I! He sits out on my front portico, shadowed by my begonias, contemplating all he has to do. He is the ambivalent sentry, waving the endless throng of neighborhood kids who knock on my door through the day (summer vacation) while I'm trying to work. His face, and pose emanate exactly how I feel: I've posted that I work from home and my kids aren't home through the day: but please, keep knocking and ringing my doorbell while I'm on a conference call, or in the middle of a training session. I know you know how to read, but somehow, things will magically be different if you try/ask just one more time if the kids can come out to play.

Arrived timely and is exactly as described. Bought it as a gift. It looks much more expensive than it was. Highly recommend.

Meh...

I bought this as a gift and decided to return it. The figure is small as other reviewers have posted. The paint finish is shiny and looks more like a DIY model kit you would find in a crafts store. Underwhelming over all.

Lovely little piece

The detail on this is really quite good. It was smaller than I anticipated but still it is a nice piece. Only real flaw I can see was that the balance was a little off, keeps tipping over. I solved the problem by gluing it to a larger stone.

NOT suitable for the garden

This is a nice piece for your bookcase but it really is not suitable for the garden, for several reasons. It is smaller than you think - from head to toes its the size of a tin of beans. The colours are so dark that you just dont see it against a background of plants and soil. The head is angeld downwards, so if you have it at ground level or standing in a plantpot then all you see is the back of his neck and the gap between his wings. Also, I have found with others in the range, the paint tends to crack and flake after a year, due to frost action in the garden. So I would say this is a nice piece to have up on a bookshelf looking down - but NOT for the garden - better to but something big and chunky in light coloured sandstone.
