No "Kick"
We use this primarily for recessed lights in drywall. It's great not getting the "kick" that a standard tooth hole saw will give you killing your wrists. Especially when hitting a joist. Runs straight and true leaving a sharp hole. Well worth the few extra bucks. I will not cut holes anymore without it. Buy now!

Best tool purchase ever
Ok so long story short; this tool was a lifesaver when I needed to install an exterior sconce on a very old stucco house. For the sake of reference; it’s a 1930’s spanish style house in southern California. So it’s that old school thick, thick concrete stucco hand laid over steel mesh lathe. Not that spray-on textured stuff they use these days. This stuff is crazy hard and has been built up very thick. I can not emphasize enough how incredibly hard this stucco is. It’s ridiculous. So, trying to make a hole for the electrical box for this light was a bit of a pain. After some trial and error (mostly error) and after a lot of mostly fruitless research I was about ready to admit defeat. That is until I saw somebody mention this exact hole saw being effective on similar material. So I decided to give it a try and I’m so glad I did! This hole saw turned a nightmare of a job into a breeze. Where several other tools had failed, this saw cut through the stucco and even the steel mesh like a hot knife through butter. It took only a couple minutes to get a nice clean perfectly round hole with no cracking of the surrounding material. Another bonus was that this actually did not create nearly as much dust as other tools we tried. The only problem for me was that the wall was slightly thicker than this saw so it bottomed out before it had cut fully through. But it was close enough that I was able to use a chisel to knock out the hole without much trouble and the wall was crazy thick so I’m not knocking off a star for that because I doubt its very common. In case you’re curious, I used this with a corded drill. I’m not sure a cordless drill would be as effective. Great tool, easy to use, and its TOUGH. I highly recommend!

Remgrit carbide 4" recessed light hole saw
The purpose of my purchase was to drill in cement lath ceiling with wire mesh. It cut clean hole at first, but after 20 holes it got a bit dull ( I believe it's because of the mesh cutting ) The lath was getting cut ok, but going through the lath was time consuming. Also, although 4-3/8 is the standard size for 4" recessed light, 4-1/4" hole saw is a better fit. My personal advice: for drywall use bi-metal or carbide tipped 4-1/4" hole saw; otherwise, for lath-wire mesh combination use 4-1/4" diamond hole saw. They are pricy $60 and up, but they will perform well and remain sharp for dozens of holes.

Stucco holes like butter
This hole saw has drilled five holes in stucco houses without issue. The carbide grit is holding strong to the blade and has made holes for lights and exhaust (dryer) vents a breeze. Trying to make a circular hole without one of these would be very difficult. The hole saw comes with the arbor and shell. I have only used the hole saw on stucco houses thus far, but believe the blade will make it through other materials just as easily.

Excellent product
Worked like a charm! I purchased to cut through stucco and chicken wire in order to install a new dryer vent. Cut a perfect hole and wasn't even bothered at all by the cut. I expected it to show some serious damage after cutting through masonry but I would say it has many more cuts left in its life. Advise if you are planning to purchase for the same purpose....... use a 1/4 inch masonry bit to drill a pilot hole first.

Does the trick, great for cutting holes into plaster and not ruining the hole saw
This is great on old plaster, which is murder on conventional hole saws. Definitely kicks up a lot of dust, so get some sort of dust shield to go with it. Previously I used a Lenox hole saw and probably got through 10 of them before the teeth went to nothing.

Okay product
Okay product. Other reviews are too hype about cutting through concrete which, granted, product is not advertised for.
