La 1460 est la botte Dr. Martens originale. Fabriqué avec des caractéristiques immédiatement reconnaissables : 8 yeux, cuir Dr. Martens classique, côtés rainurés, boucle de talon, coutures jaunes et semelle confortable à coussin d'air. Conçue pour durer, cette botte unisexe est forgée à l'aide de l'une des meilleures méthodes de construction : en utilisant une trépointe Goodyear et en la thermoscellant à la semelle. Le 1460 est fait de cuir très résistant et repose sur une semelle AirWair, qui résiste à l'huile et à la graisse avec une bonne résistance à l'abrasion et au glissement. Utilisez Dr. Martens Wonder Balsam pour protéger le cuir et garder vos bottes propres, douces et souples. Tout a commencé près de Munich, en Allemagne, en 1945, lorsque le Dr Klaus Maertens s'est blessé au pied lors d'un accident de ski dans les Alpes bavaroises. Great Boots: Wide Feet Buy 1 size up! Short review: if you have wide feet, and are a man, buy one size up from the recommended size. Wear them around the house for a week. After a week, the leather will break in around the heel and rub/move. Buy a Dr. Scholl's gel insert for work boots, trim to fit, and you have the perfect size boot. Long review: I have wide feet. I take an 8.5 EE, this size fits perfectly in the Timberland Earthkeepers 8.5 EE, but in the Rockport boots I take a 9 E. So shoe sizes vary and I understand that. I'd give the boot five stars, except I now have an expensive mistake. I went with the advice on Doc Marten's own website and the Amazon sizing guide, and bought a UK 8 which is the equivalent to a US 9 Medium. This has worked for me with a number of shoes. A number of reviewers have said the shoe runs "wide." I can only presume they have narrow feet or are women buying the men's style shoe, given that even women with wide feet will have narrower feet than men with wide feet. I've worn the boot too long to return them, in a vain attempt to "break them in." I will just have to sell them elsewhere I guess. On a hunch, I bought a size large (i.e. a UK 9, not a UK 8, which is equivalent to a US 10 Medium). Fit great, until the heel as noted above broke in and the leather around there started rubbing up and down. A quick trip to your favorite Large-Mart superstore and for $10 Dr. Scholls had me covered. Perfect fit. I like boots, with large toes I tend to get movement up and down the heel with a low cut shoe and with a boot you can dial in by lacing the upper part boot movement in the heel to an astonishing degree. Doc Martens are also VERY comfortable once broken in. Yes the Air Ware is old technology, so are V8 Engines, rear wheel transmission (featured on half a million dollar supercars like Bugattis and Ferarris) and other proven stuff. With the Doc Martens alone, absent the gel inserts, I find them at least as comfortable, maybe more so, than the Timberland "anti-fatigue technology." It is important to be clear what Doc Martens are, and where they work well for people. They are essentially a dress work boot for concrete and other hard surfaces. They were originally sold after all to UK factory workers and British Postmen, who love them. The patent leather gives them a dressy look, and polish allows you to keep them clean and neat. If you are on your feet a good part of the day on hard surfaces like me you'll appreciate them. Doc Martens don't have the aggressive tread that works so well in Rockports or Timberlands in ice, snow, mud, and muck. If you are looking for a boot for back-east Mud season, look elsewhere (I live fortunately in Sunny Southern California). Docs do alright in the rain, in getting you in and out of puddle-strewn parking lots. They are not waterproof like some Timberlands and Rockports though. Docs look nicer, are more dressy, and more rock-and-roll than Timberlands, the favorite of rappers and (in one Seinfeld episode), George Costanza. Fashion-wise, yes girls like them a lot, but so does Penn Gillete the magician, who wears them in his Vegas shows. Docs being a dress work boot, have a fully gusseted tongue, unlike most Timberlands and Rockports. I have a pair of Carolina Logger workboots with the same feature. This will press down on the top of your foot until the leather softens up, and is a feature of all good workboots. Which have the gusseted tongue to keep out debris and dirt from the inside of the boot. This is why I suggest for wide feet people, break the Docs in WITHOUT THE GEL INSERT first, and then when the heel starts to move put the gel insert in so the tongue is already broken in and does not press down hard on your foot. I would recommend a thick cotton crew sock. These socks can be found almost anywhere, are cheap, and easy to replace when they inevitably wear out. No need to go with a pricey wool sock. They are easy to wash too. Docs go well in a dress casual environment, and can be in a pinch paired with a suit for a rock-and-roll dressy look, much better than say Timberlands which are strictly jeans/khaki casual. Just remember, if you have wide feet, go one size up from the recommended size.

The last boots you'll ever buy

This pair replaced the pair bought in 1993. As I am now 50, I will likely be buried in my Doc's with great fanfare at an unfathomable old age. I had long forgotten the exquisite torture of breaking them in. It took a week: many many applications of mink oil, hours of walking, standing, and the required suffering. The boots have now accepted me as their master, and welcome my humble feet like an old friend. You do not buy a pair of Doc Martens 1460's....you earn them.

Same as ever...

These boots are just like they always have been, and hopefully always will be. The leather is a little stiffer/thicker than the English boots of yesteryear. Also, the dye seems to penetrate deeper into the leather than the English boots of the past. I've been wearing Dr. Martens boots for about 20 years now. The fact that they are made in Southeast Asia hasn't materially effected the quality of the product. You couldn't buy these boots for $85 in the mid 90s. They take a little longer to break in, but that really is about it. The soles still feel great, and once they are fit to your feet they're your Docs. Please remember to properly size your boots prior to purchase. Reviews that say they are tight or are too big clearly haven't read the information on properly sizing Dr. Martens. I wear a 10.5 and have wide (4E) feet. I wear a 9(UK) size Dr. Marten. Ladies - The sizing chart works one more size down for you. If you're a lady's size 9 you need a 7(UK) size Dr. Marten. ***********Update I was having trouble getting these broken. I wore them for about three weeks straight and then put them into rotation with their brothers. I'd get to red boot day and they were a pain to wear. After figuring they just needed to be broken in more I started stuffing thick socks into the boots right after I took them off in hopes that being stuffed for two days would stretch them. There was some moderate success, but not enough. The pain that they were causing had me considering extreme measures. Rather than sending an email to Amazon or Dr Martens begging for a replacement pair I looked inside to find out what was causing so much pain. There was about 1/4 inch excess leather where the toe cap meets the tongue. Checked my two other pairs purchased in the last year and didn't find as much excess (actually almost none in one pair, and a broken in/soft 1/8 or less excess in the other pair.) At first I considered using a sharp utility knife blade to trim it down. Then I decided to try some 180 grit sandpaper wrapped around a 1 inch or so piece of dowel. After "sanding" the leather and continuing with the sock stretching I'm happy to report that all is well. It didn't take long and I only sanded where the excess was. After about 12 hours of wear yesterday they felt so much better.

Cheap looking

I’m happy with everything except the look of the leather: it looks cheap. These are expensive boots and I expected them to look like high quality leather.

Love my Doc’s!!!

My only complaint if I had one was the picture was not a good representation of the color of my boots. It showed more of a brownish/darker red color and they weren’t super bright but not the polished look shown above. But they look great and feel great. I work at an Amazon warehouse (I work 4x 10 hour days, sometimes 11.5 hours during peak) and these boots didn’t slow me down or hurt my feet anymore than a pair of Reeboks or New Balances would. Plus they are Doc Martin’s! What’s more to say? (The pic of the dog and my boot was the only one I currently have lol I’ll upload more)

Worth every penny

There's nothing to dislike about these historic greatly made boots.. Bought for wife for Xmas, delivered when stated , they came in an outer box, then inner box was the original Dr martens box , with each boot wrapped individually for scuff protection.. excellent service , excellent boot..

Fast shipping, good fit

Super-fast shipping. Scheduled for 2-5 days, arrived on the 2nd day. It's DM. For me, this boot is perfect. It's comfortable to walk in and I haven't even had issues with "break-in" as many report you need to do. I tried on a couple of pairs at a local store. I know I should support local, but they didn't have the colour I wanted in my size. I even tried a bigger size with an thick insole to try, but ultimately, the right size without an insole is actually a better fit for me. I missed having DM's. My last pair was many years ago, and lasted for many years - they were falling apart and I reluctantly got rid of them. I got the red and love the colour. I've put Dr. Marten's Wonder Balsam on them twice already, just to protect them and that really brings out the colour as well.

Reliving my youth !

I havnt owned a pair of Docs for around 20 years and thought I would give them a go for winter rather than getting plain flat boots. They have the same feel but maybe more cushioning inside. They are stiff leather but I am breaking them in. Hopefully that wont take long. They do look great though.
