For occasional use

My mom needs occasional use of a wheelchair for doctors appointments and other situations where she would otherwise need to get places. I did a great deal of research before deciding on this brand and model. We noticed that this brand is used at the hospitals we’ve been to recently, as well as the doctors offices where mom’s had appointments. This wheelchair has been a really great addition to her mobility aids. It’s easy to push, easy to unfold, and super easy to fold up by simply pulling up on the seat. My husband is also able to get this wheelchair into the car without much problem because it’s not terribly heavy. My mom is a larger woman. She’s 5’7 and weighs a bit over 200 pounds. We were really happy that she fits easily in this chair with room to spare. She said it’s comfortable for short periods of time. She wouldn’t want to spend long periods of time sitting in this chair but that’s also true of any wheelchair, regular chair, or any seated position because she suffers with debilitating chronic pain. If you’re looking for a manual wheelchair that’s really affordable, easy to use, and easy to push or maneuver, this Drive Medical SSP220DDA-ELR Silver Sport 2 is an excellent choice. Highly Recommended!

Well made wheelchair, perfect for surgical recovery

I really don’t have a negative thing to say about this wheelchair! I had extensive knee surgery and learned I would be non-weight bearing for approximately 6 weeks. Crutches and/or a walker wasn’t going to cut it all the time at home, or going out. Due to the immobilizer brace, I had to have a wheelchair that included the leg/foot rests. Since it was a temporary situation, I didn’t want to spend a lot and after countless phone calls looking to rent a chair as well as searching on second hand sites, it became clear that purchasing a chair would be the best option. The Drive Medical Silver Sport arrived in 2 days and the only assembly needed was attaching the leg rests which is fantastic. It is incredibly durable, and I feel safe getting in and out of it as the wheel locks are easily accessible and work very well. I chose the larger size since I plan on keeping it and I wanted my husband to be able to use it if needed. It is a bit too large for some of our doorways (our house is old). It folds up easily for transport, but is a little heavy for me to carry down the stairs or put in the car due to my injury. I would recommend purchasing a wheelchair seat pad because the standard seat can be a bit uncomfortable if your are in the chair for an extended period of time. It is a quality item and reasonably priced.

Decent chair, no instructions

Appears to be okay, not the actual user. Did not come with instructions. Footrests need to be attached and are adjustable, a bit short for long legs. Took some study to figure out how to attach to chair and how to adjust. Expectation appears to be users have prior experience with this.

Very comfortable & perfect for my needs

Fits through my doorways which was my first concern. A little rough to maneuver on carpet and uphill without sufficient upper body strength but that was to be expected. The seat and arm rests are super comfy and that wasn't expected. Overall I'm pleased with my purchase. One caveat, I'm only 5'3" and have the leg extended as far as it will go. If you have a need to elevate your leg, I can't imagine that position would be comfortable for someone much taller than myself.

VINYL SEAT AND BACK NOT NYLON LIKE IT DESCRIBES IN DESCRIPTION

Well made but description of seat and back is wrong it is Not Nylon it is Vinyl . I needed nylon because Vinyl does not breath , it sweats you and then you stick to it. I can't return because I don't have the time to return it and wait for a different one. I am an amputee. Other then the Vinyl the chair is everything it says it is. I would gladly recommend it.

PERFECT wheel chair

This wheelchair is worth every penny! My last visit to the ER with a badly injured foot and no wheelchairs available was horrible! I decided then because I usually sprain my ankle at least once a year I will not be going thru that situation again! I have peace of mind knowing I have my own and no more worry! The only thing I noticed is I have to adjust the brakes but other then that she is ready to go.. The price was excellent and the service was excellent as usual! Thank you Amazon once again for a wonderful product at a reasonable price.
