Go to Insect Lore for your ladybug larvae
The habitat itself is great. I, like others, had a terrible experience with the larvae sent by Carolina. The first vial sent had 2 living larvae in it. I wrote in requesting a new vial and they sent me what appeared to be a tube of dirt. I poured it in the habitat, just in case the larvae was in there, but so far it still looks like just sand. The yeast in the first vial looked totally different than the second shipment. If I do this again, I'll be ordering from insect lore. I used them last year when for painted lady butterflies and we had a great experience.

The habitat is okay but don't order live beetle larvae through them!!!
The habitat only got 3 stars because the experience of getting the ladybug larvae was traumatic :((( The habitat itself is okay but it's hard to screw the top and two ladybugs escaped. In short, just don't order live beetle larvae with the coupon that came inside the box!!!! The beetle larvae were shipped by a company called Carolina, and that's the worst experience I had with raising bugs!!!! I should have listened to the reviews on Carolina!!!! The whole process of shipping the ladybug larvae was completely inhumane! Please don't send out beetles with shipping that will torture them for a week! When they arrived, only 4 survived (out of the 15?), and they died one after another. Two of them got to pupation, and my son and I was excited!!! Then the morning came when we saw them trying to emerge out of pupae, but we had to go to school so thought we'd check later that day. When we checked back, both of them didn't make it out of the pupa and died!!!!!! ???????????? This was traumatic!!! The price for the beetle larvae is not cheap. Even with the coupon, it costs $12.95 + tax. From the order details, it also mentioned "Second Day Air", but in reality, they used USPS to ship them, and it arrived after a week!!! I signed up for USPS's notification, because I don't want them to die in the mailbox, which I imagine could be like an oven in summer if they were left for hours. When I got the notification that they were delivered, I went immediately to get them, but being shipped in a truck for a week probably killed most of them!! Just avoid getting the beetle larvae with the coupon at all cost!!!!! Please listen to the reviews on Carolina!!! : (((((((((( So sad I didn't and took my chances with the good reviews : ( Again, the habitat is okay. I would recommend buying the habitat and get the ladybug larvae elsewhere!!

Cute but no voucher for ladybugs
The habitat is adorable but the certificate for the ladybugs was not included in the box

Very cute for more than just lady bugs.
I gave 1 less star for the fact that it’s very hard to get things inside with adult hands. I wish the tree base was removable for easy transfers and cleaning in between guests. The lid I think could go on easier and more securely but that could also be user error my husband didn’t have as hard a time as I did. My daughter loves it and thinks it’s the cutest thing and loves putting all kinds of bugs and critters and I like that they are contained no crawling out if the mesh has gaps. The pros out weight the cons it’s a very cute habitat and the little place for water/sponge is so clever.

No ladybug info.
The habitat is adorably cute and does work. However, it did not come with a anything about where or how to order the ladybugs..

Engaging and educational
This Ladybug Garden is really cute, and it's bigger than other kits that I have seen. The ladybug larvae seem to like their habitat. The ladybug shaped cave and tree design give them a lot of hiding spots that they seem to enjoy. The sponge works well for holding the water. It can be a little awkward to reach around the tree branches to avoid dropping the food into the water, but the tiny but long spoon that is included when you order the larvae is helpful for that purpose. My 4 1/2 year old son has been interested in looking at the larvae, and I have too! It's fun to watch them eat, and they do eat quite a bit. He says he wants to see them turn into ladybugs and is looking forward to seeming them as pupa. The instruction guide that comes with the Ladybug Garden has a lot of good information and pictures to explain the process, fun facts and some small coloring and drawing activities. His preschool has introduced a Butterfly Garden, but I like that ladybugs have a bit shorter transformation time. A certificate is included with the Ladybug Garden that allows you to order ladybug larvae online from Carolina Biological Supply Company for $12.95 shipping and handling. The fee was a little higher than expected, but I was able to find a coupon code online that saved a little. The larvae come with food, instructions (although you'll want to follow the instruction booklet for the Ladybug Garden instead) and the aforementioned spoon. The larvae can't ship in extreme cold winter temperatures, and Educational Insights recommends spring or summer. However, I live in Florida and had no problems receiving the larvae in February. Carolina Biological says that they ship 10 to 15 larvae and guarantee at least 5 adult lady beetles. I received about 12 live larvae, and several appear close to turning into pupa. Update: We have 9 ladybugs! One larvae took 2-3 days longer to turn into a pupa, so the total may end up being 10. I think that's a pretty good result, so I would recommend using the certificate included with the Ladybug Garden to purchase ladybug larvae.

Excellent
I bought this for my six year old grandson. He loves it! It’s hard plastic and really durable. It’s tree like shape makes it nice to look at as you watch your beetles grow. It makes a great learning tool for the little ones.

Cute, but...
FYI for those that were hoping to order the ladybugs... it’s only available in the US. The habitat itself is super cute, but they shouldn’t advertise that you can order the ladybug larvae
