Strong
Great job holding up part of a granite countertop.

They look great but there's lot of flex
My peninsula countertop extends 15 inches from the cabinet wall. I knew I would need to support this and was looking for something that would be unobtrusive but still provide good support. In my previous house I did the same but I used "The Original Granite Bracket" which were built like tanks! The down side was the gussets which were in my opinion pretty ugly. Also they only came in black. This time I wanted something with strength but I was hoping to do away with the gussets and I liked the idea that they were pre painted white. Since my countertop overhang is 15" I went with the 14 inch brackets. My concern is there is an awful lot of flex in these. I provided a closeup of one of the brackets which was sitting flush on underside of the counter after it was bolted in place, but I tested the support by trying to slip a wood shim between the horizontal and the stone. It flexed easily and I was able to push a piece of shim between with no problem. I didn't want to push this to the point I was creating upward pressure so I didn't push it too far. I'm sure I could have gone farther if I had tried. The reason I did this was because when I originally held this bracket up to the wall/counter it didn't fit flush to the stone (as others have commented) and there was a space at the horizontal end. I scraped the area near the top of the wall to make sure there was no debris from the molding I had pulled off and when I bolted it in place with 1/4 x 2 lag bolts the bracket pulled up and was flush with the stone. I still felt like it may not truly be providing support and I already knew there was some flex in the bracket so that's why I tested it with the shim. The other brackets fit better to start with so I have not tried to add a shim to them. I have two more to install on the other side of the 45 degree turn in the counter but they have not arrived yet. Some people have commented on the finish of the brackets. That is not the best, it's a cheap paint job and there were some nicks in the paint but that's not a deal breaker for me. I'm also not too sure about the complaints about them not being exactly 90 degrees. In some cases it may be the wall and stone that are not exactly 90. (the original granite brackets I used at my previous house were perfectly 90 but some still had to be shimmed due to my walls not being perfectly vertical) I put a level on my walls and they are NOT all exactly vertical. You can't blame the brackets for not fitting perfectly if the walls are not exactly 90 degrees to your stone. My concern is if they are actually supporting the stone due to the amount of flex in the steel. I was able to find hex bolt caps on Amazon and once I cut and reinstall the molding it will look great but I still have some concerns about the support they are providing. I'm sure they are fine for everyday use (dining, homework, etc.) but I would absolutely never allow anyone to sit or hang on the overhang. (no one should be doing that anyway!!!)

A Sturdy, Thick, Steel Bracket That Doesn't Bend Or Flex. A Great Find
We bought a bunch of twelve inch brackets for a specific, furniture related, project involving the installation of a new back on an old platform daybed. We needed a very large, very long bracket in order to complete that project and discovered that Ekena Millwork had a full 24 inch by 24 inch 90 degree bracket with a flat surface, four holes, two on each of the side bars which make up the 90 degree angle, and a two inch overall width, so we took a chance. It has been over six months and, from what we can tell, the 24 inch bracket, which we used to hold the two pieces of wood together that formed the perfect corner on the daybed that became our chaise lounge, is holding up very well. It has people sitting against it, pressing on it, resting on it, animals jumping on the wood which pulls on it, and the bracket is still at a 90 degree angle. We had actually believed we would need two, one at the top of the sofa back and one nearer the base but the second bracket was, at that time, unobtainable, so we used a simple 14 inch bracket lower down on the sofa back and the 24 inch about five inches below the very top of the new back and new side pieces. That second, smaller bracket was all that was needed to stabilize the larger bracket and keep it from flexing when people crash down on the sofa. Based on this experience, I think it is safe to say that, for a use of up to about 100 pounds of pressure, this would hold pretty easily, and, with the addition of a smaller bracket nearby, it seems to have no trouble handling a somewhat greater amount of stress. So far it has not flexed or bent permanently and it offers only the most minimal of give if someone really takes a run at it, so, from what I can tell, these brackets are of excellent quality for the money and do appear to be quite durable. I hope this helps you to narrow down your choices and I wish you luck with your project.

Good product -- hard to find an L bracket without support
This is a good product. I really needed an L bracket without a support beam. This is perfect. One thing to note: the images on here show two smaller side-by-side holes in the bracket, but in reality there are only three holes on each side of the L bracket... one near the end, one in the middle, and one near the 90. I think this is a better design than the side-by-side holes in the image, but it's worth letting everyone know. It's probably easier with three holes directly in a line anyway. (I used 1/4-inch by 2-inch lag screws to secure this bracket into the stud.)

Terrific support!
My house is the house of "doing things half-*ssedly" as the previous owners' motto. At some point, they moved the stove from one wall to another and cut the counter in order to do so, leaving a section of counter top literally dangling over the built-in dishwasher. When the dishwasher had to be replaced, it was discovered that even an ADA-compatible dishwasher wasn't going to fit under there due to the years of sagging created by putting things on the counter. As one should do. With no room to build a full support, I ordered the Ekena Millwork brace. Note: It's heavy as anything, and probably a two-person job to install. But with my son holding up the counter, it was a simple matter of using the pre-drilled holes to attach the brace to a stud and then under the counter. (Screws not included.) I used 1-1/2" screws for the stud, and 3/4" for attaching the brace to the counter top for extra stability, and am fully able to lean on the counter with no wiggle. Fabulous solution for the price.

Careless paint job
I needed a large “L” style bracket for our counter top. I went with this brand due to the reviews. The item was packaged in wrapping and thick padding but opening it it was all chipped on all 3 of the brackets ordered. I am so disappointed that for over $60 a bracket the paint is visibly chipped and not spray painted on nicely. Looks hand painted and isn’t the greatest. I would not buy
