Simple and small- does the job on the big wire
Easy to use- solid crimping

Great for bigger gauge crimps and small ones alike
I've been watching a lot of videos on YouTube on DIY Solar Builds and one of the people I follow recommended to use an impact based 3-point crimper like this EZRED. I have standard plier style crimpers that can do anything from 20 to 6AWG, but I wanted to have something to do big duty 2/0 cable connections. This was definitely the answer. When I first received it, I was impressed at how heavy and beefy it was. It's basically a solid block of steel. It uses a 3/8" drive so any decent impact driver will work. I actually prefer to use the driver on the lowest torque setting so it doesn't obliberate the connector. It doesn't take much force to crimp 4, 6, 8 AWG cable at all. Just a light tap of the trigger on your impact will do the job. Another thing is that you must absolutely have a vice to get this gripped to. But that's a basic tool that any man should have. Anyway, I'm glad that mine came in matte black and not the silly blue color as pictured and I'm really excited to use this to do all my big crimps for my solar build.

One of the best tools EZ Red offers.
I received it today and was blown away how well made it is. It's heavy with thick steel and the broaching is perfect to crimp battery cables. Very happy with this tool!

Great Tool
This is a replacement for a previous one that I owned Great tool for crimping lugs I put on probably in the neighborhood of 1,500 lugs before I had to replace it Would recommend to anyone who is looking for a lug crimping tool

Not quite as advertised, still a fantastic tool to have.
This would have been 5 stars, if it had arrived painted blue and not covered in stockroom dust and dirt. Tool itself is heavy duty and does the job well, just coated it in WD-40 to avoid rust. Would also recommend putting grease where the head rides up and down, as well as a light coating on the threads. Makes for far smoother operation. Also, I've been using it with an electric impact gun and have had no issues. Oh, and there's two snap rings at the top of the threaded rod.. I couldn't find a single reason for them to exist so I ripped em off.

Works beautifully in it's ugliness...use a vise!
Yeah, it didn't come painted, ok...but if you want a beefy tool that makes excellent CONTROLLED 3-point crimps in big freakin' cables, this is it. Using a vise, I made a great 2/0 cable the first night. I had seen Will Prowse/YouTube use this tool with a vise, so I knew that was the way to go. I showed my local battery guy the tool and he recognized the controlled potential immediately...and he's made plenty of big cables. It's an industrial tool finish...maybe I'll paint it, maybe I won't. Cheers!

Works great does require third hand
I plan to make a holder for this thing. Trying to hold a wrench in one hand to keep it from turning and a ratchet in the other you have no hands left to hold the wire and connector. But it works great once you get it ready. You control the amount of pressure unlike the giant set of crimpers that only close so far. You could put a socket on a battery driver if you needed the extra power. And it's nice and small if you need to take it with you for any reason. It's simple yet effective.

This thing is gold
The only problem I have with this tool is that I am on my third one the other two have been stolen. keep track of these things they are mechanics gold.

Works well on the vehicle
I have different crimpers. This one works well on the vehicle where hammer style will not work because you can't support it. This is expensive but worthwhile and built strong, its the only crimper you will need. Recommended 10 stars.

Will last forever. I'm happy with it.
There are other options, such as handle action crimpers. I have limited space in my portable toolbox so this was a good option for me. I highly recommend using this in a sturdy vise connected to a heavy bench. It's awkward to use without a vise to secure it in. I have to kneel down and hold a breaker bar to secure it while turning a ratchet... This tool should only really be used in a vise, but it's great and does a very controlled and perfect crimp. It also feels like one giant hunk of tool steel which is pretty cool.

An Excellent Crimper
While I don't use this tool often myself, when I do need it it's a wonderful tool to have. Most often it's used to replace corroded off battery connections since this tool allows me to crimp on a new terminal and use heat shrink for a nice solid connection vs those aftermarket battery terminals where the wire is simply smashed between a set of clamps which don't always hold well and leave the wire exposed to the elements. Plus it's compact size and design makes using it in an engine bay much easier since it only requires a 3/8 ratchet to operate and it stores nicely in your average tool drawer unlike some of the other style crimpers on the market. In short I couldn't be happier with this crimper and if you're after something that's compact and easy to use for larger gauge cables, this is the tool for you.

used it on 4/0 lugs.
Portable and can be held by hand and driven with a 3/8" impact, just make sure you lube the threads.

Works well in confined spaces
Easy to use, especially with my 3/8” electric impact. Nice to be able to do solid crimps in confined spaces rather than guess/measure cable lengths.
