Very thin
Purchased to make a walkway outside and a few things to note. 1) Very thing, description states 0.5 inches but I would say 1/4 thick. 2) If laying outside ground needs to be perfectly smooth to lay nice. If ground even a little uneven the seams will pop up or separate. 2) If laying by yourself do on a perfectly calm day as the slightest breeze will pick them up as they are very light.Just pulled up everything I had laid and deciding whether to grade the surface even more or just use in the garage for a work surface for projects.

Unusual and Attractive Faux Wood Grain Look, But Very Thin and Suitable only For Solid, Flat Surface
While these Flowclear 20” by 20” square floor protectors are attractive, they are very, very thin and would bow up easily if putting on anything but a hard, level and solid floor. If one is hoping to use these as the product photos display (swimming pool on grass laying with tiles perfectly flat), I seriously don’t think that’s going to work. In my best estimation, these tiles are maybe around 8mm at best in thickness, so somewhere in the ballpark of slightly under or around one fourth inch. I used to have a set years ago (different brand) of colorful ones that we’d gotten for our then-very young children, and they were many times thicker than these. So, if one has those old-fashioned thicker ones in mind, this set is not anywhere near as thick as those. There’s solid brown on one side, and on the other a nice wood-grain look. I could imagine these would look nice on a solid hard floor. Or, maybe even used to help to dampen acoustics on the wall for one’s podcast or audio channel. All that being said, the only way I think these would be useful for outside is maybe putting them directly under the pool over top of leveled sand for a nice extra layer beneath the pool floor that would feel nice to the swimmers’ feet. Depending on what one’s intentions or desires are for this set, do bear in mind that these tiles are pretty, lockable and with solid line edging, but are thin. Thanks for reading.

Light weight
These panels are light weight, thin and easy to assemble. They are probably 1/4 inch thick. I think they would be great for pool padding, however I would require 12+ packages of these to do that which would get a little expensive. I currently have cement bricks for a walkway, but it tends to get pretty hot in the sun. I might just glue these down to the bricks to make the walkway more comfortable. If these panels arent held down with something I think they would blow away pretty fast using them as a walkway.

very thin
These are not the best quality, they are thin and very lightweight. However, They are good for underneath the pool. I've tried sand, pool cloths and these mats. If you are installing an above ground pool, you need something between the pool and the ground or you'll quickly discover rocks and sticks that you didn't realize were there! Pool cloths are much thinner and more expensive, so I don't recommend them. In my experience pool cloths are too thin to do much good. Sand is a very good option and I recommend it no matter what else you do. Sand helps level an area and adds some give for comfort. These mats are a nice addition to sand or can be used on their own if your area is flat and clear of debris. They are only 1/8" thick and very lightweight so the wind will blow them away if they aren't weighted down. This makes them good enough for underneath the pool, but not good for a walkway without garden stakes to hold them in place. Using sand to level and these on top for comfort would make a great base for a pool. If the price is reasonable to you, I would consider using two layers to make up for how thin they are. I don't recommend them for walkways without staking them.

Cleaner walk to the pool
They were thinner than expected and the wind kept blowing them away making it hard to stay in place. Pressure added on top made them move. I wanted to use it like it shows in the picture to walk to the ladder. I was able to solve the issue by adding tape to the underside seams to lock in place, so they don’t come undone and putting some thin metal stakes on some corners, so it doesn’t take off. I found that some corners overlapped or stood with a gap, so I left off the edges in the end. Comfortable to walk on and tiny dots textured the top. It was nice to have a clean walk with no grass or sharp pointy leaves, they are like Torns now they just slide across the tops. I was able to place two in front of my washer and dryer that were leftovers for a step mat.

Very Thin Mats
The Flowclear mats are your standard floor puzzle piece style mats that you might use in a play room or workout room but these are marketed for outside. These mats are very lightweight and very thin. I already have a ground cloth under my pool but I thought these would work well in the ladder area in my muddy backyard. They will work, but I’m not sure if they will hold up well as they look like they could blow away without something on top of them. The mats do have a really nice wooden pattern and they look good. Since the mats are so thin, you are probably better off looking for something with a little more thickness if you plan to use these under a pool.

Thinner than anticipated
I got this to set up the baby pool for my doggies. First, the material is very thin than expected. if you have an uneven and bumpy ground, this would not help you at all. Honestly, the pictures in the description looks much better than the actual item. I honestly feel that this would fit better for a mat in the playroom than outside. Its probably much easier to use a tarp instead of this to put your pool over.

Thin, small coverage
As other reviewers have stated, these are paper thin! About as thick as a house key. Also, the photos are incredibly misleading. Yes, they include the square footage in the description, but not everyone is good at math. I knew it would not be near enough to cover underneath our tiny 8' pool, but I was planning on just making a perimeter with them anyway. But definitely keep that in mind for ordering- a pack of 12 covers almost nothing. Definitely not enough for a pool no matter how small it is. If I wanted coverage for my entire pool, I would need two packs.
