Great purchase
The enamel on my old enameled Dutch oven started flaking on the bottom inside so it was time to replace it. I was looking at other enameled Dutch ovens, but when this simple cast iron Dutch oven came up in the search results, I took a look at it and the reviews. After some research, I realized that an unenameled Dutch oven would be a better choice. It can stand higher heat and is easier to clean. I did see comments that mentioned flaking and rusting, but I didn't have those issues. Why? I think it's because even though this is pre-seasoned, I seasoned it anyway. I didn't do the oven method of seasoning, I chose the stovetop method (do a search to find out the details of how to do this) and seasoned it 4 or 5 times. Once that was done, the first thing I did with it was render beef suet to make tallow for cooking. Choosing a high-fat food like that (or bacon) helps set the seasoning. After cooking in it, I wait for it to cool and then I give it a quick wash (using chain mail to scrub, another great cast iron accessory that you can find with a search), put it back on the stovetop and turn the heat on to dry it, then give it a quick inside coat of avocado oil. This is the method I use with my cast iron skillets, and it works like a charm! I would definitely recommend this, with the suggestion that you season it before cooking with it, and make sure the first few things you cook in it are fatty. Also, if you cook any liquids in it, be sure to clean it as soon as it's cool. Leaving it sitting overnight after cooking with liquids is inviting rusting. Oh, and leaving the lid on while it's still hot after you clean and oil it also has the potential to cause rusting from condensation. Treat this well, and you'll have a great cast iron Dutch oven!

Perfect for small boules
I use this Dutch oven to bake half-sized boules of bread. I love that the lid is a single piece of cast iron - no plastic handle to unscrew or cook off in a hot oven.

Very pleased. i am on SS so the price was a concern but those thoughts went out the window. Perfect size for a guy living alone. Very nice pot.

First Dutch Oven!!
This is a HEAVY cast iron Dutch oven that I have fallen in love with after the first meal. I already cook a mean roast, however, this Dutch oven took my meat to the next level. I'm VERY happy with this purchase and will be back for more of their high-quality, affordable products.

Great pot. Very versatile
I love it. I am feeding a family of 4 adults. I’m able to make more than enough potatoes, Oatmeal, spaetzle. Perfect size and so versatile I am considering another one.

Good casting, good seasoning, good price, uninspired design
Edit 3, deleted previous edits: My sincere apologies to Amazon. Apparently the first use of these pots may have coincided with some sort of change in my water quality. I still don't like there being EPS foam in the packaging it appears that the strange foam that boiled out of them at extended high heat was from my water and NOT contamination from the packing foam. In spite of looking extremely similar. I do however still hope they stop using EPS foam packing as cardboard and paper alone is fine. I've invited them to reverse the refund. My town will be testing my water to try and figure out why this happened. So sorry, great pots, glad they helped me expose this issue with contamination or softening agents or whatever. End edit. It's a relatively good casting in terms of the fineness and detail. It's got good fresh slick seasoning on it though of course it needs more seasoning and cooking to break in both the surface and the iron itself. The price is good and there are few it any comparable size cast iron pots near this price and none I found with an iron lid. The price point is why I'm giving this 5 stars cause there is nothing better for that money right now I don't think unless it's on sale. You should check prices yourself at the time of purchase and compare to other products. A tip on quickly seasoning the bottom only: Spread oil in bottom, put in water and boil on max for a while. The oil on the bottom will polymerize super well and super fast without smoking. You can't do it at that high heat without smoking otherwise. However it only works for the interior bottom cause the sides and lid and outside won't get hot enough. Maybe putting water inside in the oven can allow faster seasoning without smoking also though? I'm not sure about this I only know for sure on the burner. The pot is light weight, relatively thin casting compared to more expensive competitors. This means it will heat faster BUT it won't spread heat as well, retain heat as well or radiate heat as well because of this. It may also be slightly less durable than a thicker heavier product. It also likely makes it cheaper to ship. Personally I'd prefer a little bit heavier weight but there are also arguments to be made in favor of light weight so it's nice to have a diversity of heavier and lighter iron pots if you can afford a full arsenal. My real gripe with this otherwise very fine and affordable cast iron product that promises to bring cast iron to the masses at a cost they can afford is the design. It's very simple and mostly practical sure. Personally though I find it a bit uninspired. Also printing the brand name on the bottom in raised letters would seem impractical and less energy efficient for any stove top except gas even with a thick heat ring around it to even out the base on the element and prevent rocking.. Double Dutch (skillet or sometimes grill lid) ovens are fairly common specially in the 5qt size. Lids which recycle moisture more effectively with spikes, rings or grill lines in the case of a grill lid are also relatively common. Given that the designs are out there and open source like the wheel I think they should have taken inspiration from them and used either a double dutch with grill (recycles moisture better but not as common a cooking surface), griddle or skillet lid design OR at least some spikes or rings on the lid to recycle moisture more effectively. Also I think they should have printed the name on the side rather than the base and left the base completely flat and maybe a little bit thicker like it is around the heat ring. Printing it on the base effects the cooking and efficiency, printing on the side should be purely cosmetic AND more visible. So in short I don't think it would cost them any extra to make a double dutch oven with skillet/griddle lid out of this with 2 loop handles on the lid at the sides instead of the one on top and a totally flat base with the name on the side. It would deliver even better value to customer though. It would be amazing to have this on the 2qt and 7qt models as well as the 5qt because you can't as easily find those sizes in double dutch ovens here in Canada, usually only 5qt in seasoned cast iron and sometimes 6-7qt in enameled if you pay a lot for it. Basically a better design would deliver better value at no additional cost. My top design choices (all with flat base and name on side) in order of best to worst would be: 1. double dutch oven with skillet/griddle lid, same moisture recycling as current. 2. double dutch oven with grill texture lid for better moisture recycling but less common for cooking. 3. regular pot with spiked, ringed or otherwise textured lid for better moisture recycling. 4. as it is now. Dear Amazon I hope you listen to this and you are free to use my feedback on this freely.

Incredible value for money
Bought this dutch oven on offer, came double packaged & pre-seasoned. Beautifully made without any flaws. Do not put off by any negative reviews you see here, though say pre-seasoned take care of it well (google-> seasoning cast iron pots) Not for faint hearted, extremely heavy but worth the money spent for. Using it for 3 months or so, all good so far. Aftercare is necessary to keep rust away. This is perfect size for a family of 5 or above. Can be used on both Gas and Induction cooktops, also usable in oven. I hope this will serve for generations, as any other cast iron pans & pots.

Excellent quality
2 quart Dutch Oven Quality is on par with lodge or any other leading brand For a cast product, it has superb fit and finish. Very happy especially considering the low price.

Love it!
I waited a good period of maybe 3 months before writing this review and let me tell you: I love it. It is exactly what I was expecting. It’s perfect for sourdough bread, soups, frying...etc. Cast iron cookware need special care to prevent rust and stickiness, but their advantage is that they last you a lifetime and they’re healthy. It will only rust if you don’t know how to take care of it.

decent little cast iron pot
comes fast, packed well and looks like every lodge i ever bought except for the amazon basics stamp in the base. level base, lid is fine although the handle loop is shallow so i grip the lid edges. it comes seasoned nicely and a good set of instructions if you've never used cast iron before. i washed it, seasoned it myself just out of routine then been using it for deep frying chicken drumsticks. 2-3 drumsticks at a time, its small enough evenly heating isnt an issue and for once a cast iron doesnt take up a lot of space in a cupboard when not in use. i think this is tip top for single or 1-2 adults and 1-2 kids. i like that i dont need a 4l jug of oil to deep fry anything. i really only deep fry chicken and snickers so its' great. usually i find amazon basics overpriced for what you get, not as much of a bargain brand but whatever, this one seems good, i'd buy it again.
