I needed something to mount my weathervane and this was the ideal thing.

Dimensions Are Wrong!

The listed dimensions of the base are 3" x 3". So, I assumed it would fit nicely on my 4" x 4" post that has actual dimensions of 3 1/2" x 3 1/2". Wrong, the base is 3 5/8" x 3 5/8". So, the edges of the base hang over the post. Not a tidy looking installation. I have no idea why the maker didn't design the product for a standard 4" x 4" post. Even worse, they don't list the correct dimension in the product description. Aside from the incorrect size, the product is nice looking and sturdy.

Bracket does not fit a standard 4 x 4 post.

A standard 4 x 4 post from the hardware store is actually 3 1/2" x 3 1/2". The description of this post indicates the base is 3" x 3" and the screw holes in each of the four corners should have aligned up properly. The base, however is actually 4" x 4" which means all four holes did not line up with the post. I was only able to make this work by putting in 3 screws. The description of this item needs to be modified to reflect the correct dimensions. Better yet, it should be re-manufactured to fit the standard 4 x 4 post which is actually 3 1/2" x 3 1/2". Also to make this work the screws had to be angled inward which resulted in the screws not lying flat on the base. Not an ideal situation. Finally the listed dimensions indicates the height is 5”. The height is actually 8”, which may create an issue for some weathervane or other applications.
