Stop and buy this stand!
This permanent mount umbrella stand solved several years of problems! I wish I’d found it sooner! I have a 10’ umbrella and live in the worlds windiest wind tunnel on the windy city. My deck is about 6’ off the ground and ai swear the wind funnels up at extreme velocity and destroys umbrellas. This small plastic mount came with a drill bit and bolts for concrete as well as very clear Instructions on how to install it on a wooden deck. It included two extra sleeves to fit different umbrella pole sizes and a nice cover to hide the bolt and hardware. It is rock solid. Stop shopping, just get this - stop letting your umbrellas fly away or topple the furniture.

Tightening bolts won’t line up
Unfortunately, when using the larger diameter insert the cover doesn’t line up with the tightening bolts due to the insert being too tall.

Strong direct to slab mount.
I mounted this on my patio to block the neighbors 2nd story window view into my backyard using a tilting 10’ umbrella. We get wind nearly every day here in So Cal and the umbrella has never once blown out of the mount. I am ordering a second one that I will mount on a precast footing and bury with only the mount showing. You do have to drill the holes precisely to line up. I found my concrete bit drifting when starting and 1 hole is not aligned. Highly recommended!

Not as intended, but works well
The media could not be loaded. Technically, this umbrella stand is to be screwed into the concrete of your patio. However, I decided not to use it in this way. Therefore, I simply buried the inner part of the stand in the grown and it works just fine like that. It has worked out really well for working outside while staying cool.

Great anchor, solid hardware, accommodates varying poles, foot room, not aesthetically pleasing.
Let's get the ugly out of the way first, because there is plenty to like about this. It's just not that nice to look at. We have black furniture on a light grey deck and this looks like a white, upended cup under the table. Are other's going to spend their time admiring or ripping on your umbrella anchor? More than likely, no. But this is what you'll be looking at, so either way, take it in and make your choice. Also, you need to know that you are deciding to permanently (relatively speaking) put your table and umbrella (or at least your umbrella) in a single (one) location on your deck or patio. This thing bolts into place with very aggressive bolts. I am very impressed by this hardware by the way. It's probably over engineered. With this said, you no longer have to store or haul out your 50+ pound umbrella anchor anymore. So, pick the very spot you plan to install this umbrella for the foreseeable future. Open up the bag of screw options. See they went the extra mile and covered most everything. We don't have cement decking, so went with the wood installation. If we ever convert, we have the hardware :) The instructions are VERY well laid out. For such a lost art, this was refreshing. There are instructions for both cement installation, as well as wood (or similar) decking. I marked the holes, predrilled the holes (look, don't skip this step...if you crack your deck and complain later, it's going to be obvious you skipped this step), zipped down the bolts, ...ok ok, I DIDN'T follow all the directions and ended up installing and removing the hand screws three times. 30 seconds of reading could save you a few minutes of repetitious work. Chose the insert that fit my umbrella's pole and dropped the outer cone over everything. Finally, and correctly, moved the table into place, dropped the umbrella through the table and into the anchor, and screwed in the last two hand screws to bite into the pole, securing it in place. I don't believe this umbrella will be going anywhere. So again, it's not the nicest thing to look at, but it's at your feet. And speaking of feet, there's now more room. As in, inches all around. And no one is tearing a muscle storing the heavy anchor for the winter. Honestly, I think this is staying put until we decide we don't want to look at it anymore or the deck fails where it's attached. Pretty sure the anchor isn't going to be the thing that fails. Again, this appears to be really well engineered. Time will tell. At this point, this is a recommend - after you have decided on it's aesthetics. Have a look at the images.

Great!
If you are looking for an anchor to but on your patio or deck, under a table, this is perfect. Simple installation, with instructions, and awesome that it can even go into the concrete! However, if you want to be able to move it around or put it in the ground, it’s no good. It does state that, so it’s not misleading, just throwing it out there since we were looking for something to go in to dirt and gave it a try. It definitely didn’t work lol Also, aesthetically speaking, it’s not cute. That’s why I say it good for under a table or something, as it doesn’t take up much space but you do want to hide it! But overall, if you are looking for a sturdy anchor to put in wood or concrete, this is fantastic!
