Sturdy food prep tray, but expensive for what they are

The design of these trays is good, the food doesn't soak in its own juice. They remain flat on my counter even if the center of the tray is doomed up. This also helps to keep away the liquid from the food. The groove all around the trays and the raised edges prevent any spills when I'm walking with them in my hands. The handles are large enough and make the trays easy to carry with a single hand if needed. They are sturdy, they don't bend even if I try hard, they easily support the weight of a dozen corn cobs. It doesn't say what type of material they are made of, but it seems to be melamine. I can easily wash them in my dishwasher, they are easy to wash manually too. They fit well next to my cooking trays in my kitchen cabinet, they don't need a lot of storage space. The only drawbacks I found is the price, they are expensive for what they are, and the fact that the underside of the trays are not non-slip. I hope this helps you.

Handy but pricey prep trays

The Good Parts + Nice spacious trays for prep. + The circular bumps help fluids from drain away from the meat. Dry meats sear better than wet meats, so for me, this is one of the main benefits of the tray. + Each tray is a different color, which can make it easier to separate raw from cooked. + Dishwasher safe + Well made, should last for years. Nitpicks / Hit or Miss * The trays I received are not perfectly flat. The centers of the tray bow upwards. I don't know if this is by design or a flaw. For me, the side effect was a positive, as fluids flow toward the ends of the tray, which to me is better than raw meats being soaked in their own juices. Your mileage may vary. * While the trays are plastic, they are significantly heavier than they look. I liked that they were heavy, but I can see it being a negative for some. * They're pretty big, so make sure you have room to store them. Possible Dealbreakers - At $64 (at the time of review), I can see a lot of people finding these to be very expensive.

Great trays for BBQ prep

I always wanted a good tray to get steaks and burgers to the BBQ and these trays are great for that. The textured bottom is great for keeping things from slipping off and the design keeps the liquids in place. My only wish is that the bottom had a bit of silicone or non slip to keep them secure on the counter.

Great size. Very sturdy. Prevent cross contamination!

My husband is an avid BBQer, but he used to always use my plates as his trays to carry food in and out of the house. I’m always afraid he or one of the kids will drop one and it will break. These Outset trays are made of melamine, which is a durable and sturdy material that holds up well to repeated use, and won’t shatter if dropped. The trays measure 17.2" x 10.5", which is large enough to accommodate family size servings. The trays come with ridges and grooves that are specifically designed to retain juices, and prevent the food from sliding off the trays. It doesn’t matter the color you choose, but we did Orange to bring raw food out and the Gray to bring cooked food back in. That way there is no cross contamination of food. The prep trays are dishwasher safe, which makes cleaning them a breeze. This is particularly useful when entertaining, the last thing I want is to spend my time cleaning up, now I can just toss these in the dishwasher.
