Great!

Bought as a family Xmas gift and it’s been great so far! The door was a little tight and wouldn’t close, but I found if you swing it open all the way to the left and then to the right, the pins loosened up and fell into place. Key to making good popcorn in this thing, is let the pot heat up first for 5 minutes or so before putting in the oil and Kernels. Good luck!

Lots of unpopped kernals

I couldn't add a picture to a question, so I'm writing a review instead. I'm wondering if this is typical for each batch of the number of unpopped kernals. It seems like a lot to me, especially compared to when I make popcorn in a pot on the stove. I bought the popper for $130 as used like new, but it definitely was not like new. The tray was very bent up and I was able to bend it back enough to fit in the slot. The door to the popper didn't come close to aligning, and then I realized that the whole popper had been some how twisted (maybe dropped). I was able to hold the bottom of the popper with my feet and twist the top to torque it back into good enough shape that the door would close. It barely catches the magnet, but before, it didn't come close to matching up. Also, the directions in the popper, the directions printed on the door and the directions printed on the Great Northern 6 ounce premeasured popcorn are all different. Which one do you follow? My friends have a cheaper machine they bought at Best Buy and so far, even though they have a smaller one, they get more popcorn out of it since most of the kernals pop. Their popcorn seems to be more evenly coated with salt as well. I wanted one that made more popcorn than theirs per batch, but this does not seem to do that.

Bought two years ago and still popping

I use 1/3 cup of coconut oil and one cup of Orville popcorn and it creates a great movie theater popcorn. No issues whatsoever with the 6 oz machine. Just wish I could find a black cart to fit it.

I like it.

I had a cheaper popcorn machine before this one so this was a pretty nice upgrade for me. This one is a bit wider so it's easier to not burn yourself when pouring in the ingredients. The metal on the sides looks nice to me and is durable, but the metal for the bottom door is thin and flimsy, same with the seed catcher tray, but honestly I'm fine with that. It heats up pretty quickly and I've had no problems with it so far, the popcorn tasted pretty great. My biggest problem was with getting the thing in the first place. The first time I ordered it, Amazon decided they didn't feel like shipping it for some reason... no idea what happened. So I had to contact Amazon and get them to ship me another one. Thankfully the second one did ship, and I recieved it in a week. Having to wait over 2 weeks to receive this thing was a bit annoying, especially because I was having company over, fortunately it arrived the same day I had to entertain guests. So overall the product itself is fine for the price they ask.

Perfect for home use

I just received this and in 10 minutes had it set up and preheating. Popcorn came out delicious like movie theater. It’s the perfect size for 2-4 people although you can keep popping for more! I think they key is to use the all-in-one popcorn packets for 6oz popper. I use Vogel. They have everything in it including salt so the popped corn is delicious without adding anything. Unit is smaller than it looks in the description pictures but really perfect for a home theater or small gatherings. Warming light does the trick. Finally some movie theater popcorn in my home! So much tastier than microwave! Now I just need some movie theater candy and sodas and I’ll be set.

Awesome popper for real theater popcorn!

We LOVE this popcorn maker! I got this for my husband a few months ago and we are in absolute love! We got a 50 lb bag of popcorn, popcorn popping oil and Flavacol popcorn seasoning and you can’t even tell this isn’t from the theater. It’s reasonably sized to sit in my dining room on a small table and we use it often. We wipe it down every few uses, it’s not too bad to clean but not as easy as a bag of microwave popcorn of course. But it’s MUCH yummier and this is honestly one of the best gifts I have given my hubs.

Fun and yummy

We've had this a few years now and still love it. I would say this is an excellent choice for a small family or someone who hosts small gatherings. We have used it for movie night with (kids') friends, and everyone always gets a kick out of it. For our family of four, we will pop 2-3 batches, but I have popped 4-5 with great results, too. I've used different oils and popcorn, and it is always good. It's fairly easy to disassemble/assemble when cleaning, though if you wipe it down after using it, the kettle shouldn't need taken apart.

Not what I expected

I had previously purchased a 4 oz. and wanted a bigger kettle for at work so I bought a 6 oz. It was not as expected as I measured and you pay more for the 6oz model but only get a 4 oz kettle as the measurements were the same. Unless you buy the 8oz model you pay more for a 6 oz so just buy a 4 oz or get an 8 oz. Misrepresented.

Very nice popping machine

Good materials. The stainless steel and glass is appreciated. Easy to clean. Takes some practice to get the results i'm after. I don't mind. This is fun to use. Its so quiet, I had to make sure it was running. Came packed incredibly well. The door needed adjustment. I'm not surprised and was expecting to have to tweak things. It is now aligned and functioning perfectly.

Fantastic flavour, high quality materials, easy to use

Love the high quality stainless steel & tempered glass - will be so much more durable than Plexiglas cases & no nasty chemicals from heating aluminum. Cleaning is a bit of a chore, but not too bad... Unbeatable flavour, easy to use, lots of space to add kernels to the kettle, unlike smaller units. Great customer service - highly recommend

Excellent popcorn machine!

Ordered this model and used it with my family at Christmas! We all loved it for movie night. Get the right products to make it just like movie popcorn! Easy to put together and use. Pretty easy to clean.

As advertised, for performance. Not so much for ease of assembly.

This unit has been in use for a few months now. Works flawlessly. However, assembly at the factory was haphazard (at least with our maker). The hinges for the glass door were obviously not checked for alignment before final packaging - the ones on the frame had to be loosened, the door put in place, then re-tightened. Also, the top glass-mounted hinge has a small boss (raised section), that has to be aligned with a corresponding slot in the mating hinge, before the glass door can drop down to it's final position. This is not mentioned in the directions (the directions appear to be generic to cover other models, which may not have this feature). In any event, the door must be positioned at 90 degrees to the maker to align the boss and slot. The boss can be filed off, if the owner wants to be able to remove or install the door regardless of it's position. We use O.R. popcorn and coconut oil. The popcorn tastes great! Cheers

Great little machine!

Great little counter top popcorn machine.... Makes just the right amount for about 4 people. It's the best if you can get the 6oz prepackaged oil/corn/salt mixture as it's just like theater popcorn!
