This is super sturdy, heavy and solid! But just a little too big for my taste.

NOT an official grab bar, can't be.

I wrote a review but it never posted. Trying again. I purchased this expensive item for my bathroom remodel. My plan was duo purpose. For safety (grandkids in the tub) AND as a shower curtain holder. I had seen this done in a hotel with the curtain pulled to the back wall of the tub and tucked in and I thought it looked classy. This was the nicest bar that went with my plan. Based on the other review about the item being in pieces I called Grohe to find out how it is installed because the instructions online only had how to install a toilet brush holder and maybe a tp holder. The gal I spoke to could not get me any information. With fingers crossed I ordered it. It is Heavy. It is Beautiful. It is NOT what I would call a safety grab bar. It is more like a glorified hand towel bar. The item installs just like a tp holder or towel bar. 2 brackets first, then attach the bar to them with the tiny set screws. No way was I going to pay for that OR risk having someone fall when the reached for assistance but he thing fell apart. We all know how the other accessories need occasional tightening. Would you install a towel bar? If not, don't count on this one. I am disappointed. It would have been beautiful.

Be wary, Item I received was 3 seperate pieces, not a single curved bar.

The photo of this product shows it as a single curved piece of metal. The item I received comprised three seperate parts with very visible joints, nothing like the picture. The two end curves were seperate from the front straight bar and held in place with grup screws underneath. Weight was good though so probably a well built item. My concern was that water would get into the joints and either go mouldy or peel the chrome. Also, the joints detracted from the overall look and quality. Fast return from Amazon so thank you for that.
