A fine Ice pick.
Does the job perfectly. The pick cover keeps the tip sharp. It is a sturdy little handle and I am pleased with my purchase.

Works great.
HIC Harold Import Co. Ice Pick with Cover It's an Ice Pick & it works great. My only issue is that the color of the cover doesn't really match the color of the wood on the ice pick. However, I don't feel that is worth taking a point away since it does it's job very well & just what I needed.

Life changing, yes, really.
Have you ever made a purchase, knowing that the item or item would change your quality of life? I am not talking about buying a house when you are homeless, or a car when you are carless; I am talking about a trivial purchase. Well, I LOVE nugget ice, silly indeed, but I purchase it at my local Zaxbys weekly. I use it in all my beverages, protein shakes and have even been known, in a desperate moment, to make a "snow cone" with it using sugar free coffee syrup (don't laugh, I know someone has or WILL try it after reading this!). Well, it clumps after it sits. Being that I am indeed girly, I take it out of the freezer and bang it on the counter (doesn't work), drop it on the floor (doesn't work well) and take it to the garage and toss it onto the floor from the door (works acceptably but splits the bag over time). Last year when I had some strain of the flu and was bored, I purchased myself an Amazon Prime account (created by Satan himself). Set to remedy my "clumpy Zaxby's nugget ice issue" late one evening when I should have been sleeping, I spotted the two most glorious objects. Eureka! I thought and immediately loaded them into my shopping cart. Neither were over $10 and with the free shipping provided with my Amazon Prime account, why they were a steal. Within two days they arrived on my doorstep and I opened the box with glee, unwrapping and cutting off the overly stiff plastic ties and immediate disinfecting my two new ice accouterments. It just so happened I had a new pitcher of unsweet, decaf ice tea "a brewin"; the timing was divine. I poured a giant mug of tea, dried the objects and quickly went to work declumping the ice. With ease, my new Harold'S Kitchen Ice Pick With Sheath 8" tore through the ice clump like a hungry wolverine that had not fed in months effectively separating the clumps into manageable pieces. I then wielded my handy OXO Good Grips Scoop, Translucent White to neatly shovel the freed pieces into my giant mug of tea. Sweet bliss! Yes, the Harold'S Kitchen Ice Pick With Sheath 8" in combination with the OXO Good Grips Scoop, Translucent White have forever changed my quality of life. Daily.

Wonderful item, safe to have
When you think of ice picks, you normally think dangerous. Not this one. This has it's own cover and keeps it from being stuck in a drawer where someone may accidentally be injured by it. It is very sturdy and does it's job very well!!

Easy to Hold and Use, and a Good Safety Cover to Boot
This is an old-style wood-and-metal ice pick. It's not fancy; it just works. The construction is sturdy; the handle is easy to grasp even for my small hands, and the wood cover minimizes the chances of gouging yourself when you're rummaging amongst your utensils trying to find it. It makes short work of large chunks of ice that have frozen together; I tend to think it would work well on blocks of ice if necessary, although that is not something I have occasion to do very often. Edit: I ended up buying a second of this item; it turned out to be a small disappointment. The cover for this second one doesn't stay on the blade at all, and that means getting jabbed when you go to look for it in the utensil drawer. They must make hundreds of these, so you'd think they'd have it right, but apparently they don't. So - I'd say from this point out - buy someone else's ice pick if you have another occasion to do so - especially if you don't want to get jabbed when you're searching for it; I got "bitten" and actually had to take a tetanus booster when it happened to me, and that's a bit much for something that should be utterly simple! So - I say choose a different item, and avoid the trip to the Emergergency Room!opppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp

Works good and is a GOOD value..
I now own two of these. The thing about ice picks is, when you need one--- you need one.! Nothing else will really do the same job with the same ease of use. If you are looking for an ice pick, don't bother looking in a grocery. You MIGHT find one somewhere locally, but it would probably have to be in a party store, or maybe a specialty kitchen store. OR--- you can shop here on Amazon. You will find a decent selection here varying in price from three dollars or so up to ten or fifteen dollars. Some are labeled "carbon steel" which work good, but are very prone to rust. Others are labeled "stainless steel" which have few if any drawbacks (IF they are in fact made of stainless steel..!). And some others (like this one..) don't really specify. You need to just make a decision based on your own priorities. I purchased this one because I already have one of these and it functions nicely. I have had NO problems with it. It is nicely finished, and the wood cover for the blade keeps it safe in the kitchen appliance drawer. I know some folks have complained about the metal fit, and others about a plating issue, but I have not experienced any of those issues. I like this ice pick because it works like it should, It will not roll off of a counter, it stays sharp and safe in storage, and the price is okay. It represents a GOOD value.! It may not be the best, but it is just fine. AND, when it is time to replace it, you don't feel like you have been robbed.... Four stars for a very serviceable product.

Wow!
It works! You just take off the cover, hold it in your hand and chip away at the ice! Who would've thought!!!

You can't go wrong
Use it every day, I used to have a fridge that produced ice, now I live in a rental with no ice maker. Purchased one, so now every week I make a bowl of ice, leave it in my freezer. Every morning in my morning shake, I put ice yum yum. Pick pick away at the ice. Love my pick. Very well made item.
