Not as full as picture but looks great

Just making sure that buyers understand that changing the bulb means removing each and every piece of salt, which is fine and fun for me. It also isn't as full as it shows in the picture, the pieces only reach the top rim. I give it 4 because it doesn't reach the weight mentioned after you remove all the crumbles from the bag which would fall off through the metal holder, however not so bad and it looks good anyway

This lamp is perfect for a office, bedroom etc anywhere you want to add comfort with a low light, this will be perfect. Save any extra salt chunks!

Really like this lamp! Too many white salt pieces but still nice

I really like that it can be hung up, I used a standalone plant hanger that I have in the living room for hanging lamps, and I really love the dimmer too. Too bad almost all the pieces were more white than orange/pink shade, but it's ok. Still really like it. Most of the pieces were very small, and you can see that the bulb itself is not protected from being crushed by salt pieces in the second photo, so be careful when placing the pieces in the basket. The hanger is solid when you attach the hanger, so that's a plus too.

This Little Lamp is Perfect

I thank the seller very much for replacing the first shipment, which was broken to bits. Still, when the replacement came today, it was not shipped inside a protective box as I requested...so why? Anyway, I have set the lamp up and it's in my bathroom. It's a perfect night light. I've read a great deal about the Hymalaian Salt Lamps, but there is absolute no proof that they DO anything except to provide subltle lighting. However, in saying that, the subtle lighting is just what I wanted. Thank You!

Love this lamp!

Absolutely love this basket! I had purchased this same style a number of years ago. Since then, I've moved from a 4 room apartment, to a 4 bedroom home...meaning I have a lot more rooms to put salt lamps in now. I decided to grab another one of these. I'm so happy I did! Seems as though the dimmer switch has been upgraded. My intended purpose was to use this basket in one of my larger living areas, but because the improved dimmer allows me to set the light at such a low, soothing level, it ended up being perfect for my bedroom! The lamp that was in my bedroom will now be used in a different room. The color of the basket will blend with nearly any style/color decor. If I had to put a description to it, I would say it's maybe something between antique silver & black stainless. For anyone wondering...when I first took everything out of the packaging, the salt rocks looked extremely light in color (almost white). However, as you can see in my picture, they don't look the least bit white after you arrange them in the basket and turn the light on. I'm no expert, of course, by my guess would be that with the amount of salt chunks this basket holds, if the pieces were too dark in color, it may make it difficult for the light to filter through.

Beautiful lighting and useful too

I was a bit leary of getting this item, but I am so glad I did. It is heavy as it weighs about 9 pounds, but if placed on a sturdy surface it makes a gorgeous decoration. The light bulb did not arrive broken as I was a bit worried that it might be. The manufacturer could resolve any future worries if they could come up with a better solution to protect this glass bulb by using better packaging surrounding the bulb. Thin cardboard protection makes this a 50/50 chance of arriving broken. The salt chunks are a pinkish mixture of large (up to 3 inches) chunks to very small (1/4 inch). This is good because you can rearrange them inside the wire bowl for you own creation of lighted salt. It is salt, so be careful if you have any cuts on your hands as you will feel some pain. The dimming switch is a must for beautiful lighting effects. This has many options of lighting effects. Even though the salt chunks are mainly pink/white with a few smaller pieces of peach/orange when the light is off, when you turn on the light, it becomes the dark orange color you see in the picture. This is also an air purifier, but as of yet, I haven't really notice much because I purchased it in the winter and it's pretty dry inside my home anyway. I will see the results when I have a more humid summer and hopefully this salt will help to dry out the air. I am happy with everything I received thus far and I would recommend it even with the risk of receiving a broken light due to shipping. Amazon will accept this return if that is the case. So, it is worth the risk. Looking to get plenty of enjoyment from this practical beauty.

Some bulb and switch details

A lot of the salt lamps say they come with a 7 watt or 15 watt bulb. I got this to brighten up a dark corner in my cubicle at work, so I was planning to experiment with a higher wattage bulb anyway. It was interesting to find out that it actually came with a 25 watt bulb already. Since it also comes with a dimmer (not just an on/off switch) I upgraded to a 40 watt bulb. Any of the small base candelabra type bulbs will fit. The 40 watt bulb illuminates the whole bowl better than the 25 watt. The 25 mostly lit up the top. I have the dimmer set to about 85%. Since this type of lamp has several openings in the top, I'm not concerned about overheating, like I would be with a lamp with a solid top. It's self ventilating all the way around. You can arrange the salt chunks to leave the back or the top a little more open, to direct the light up and away, or arrange them to keep it closed all around. I have it sitting on the second shelf of a corner shelf unit (four glass shelves), with some of the light being thrown up to the glass shelf above. And a guest chair in front of the corner shelf. Most of the bowl sits above the back of the guest chair. Corner shelf: Convenience Concepts Go-Accsense 4 Tier Glass Corner Shelf The picture of the lamp on Amazon shows a bowl that narrows at the top. The lamp I received gets larger at the top. I like it even better. The salt is piled up about three inches above the top of the bowl, making it look even larger. This also helps with covering the taller candelabra style bulb.

Potential fire hazard

Beautiful glow for the 5 minutes it works at a time before something heats up enough that it shifts out / turns off. Would not recommend buying this product. Tried multiple outlets to make sure it’s tge lamp itself. Smelled something burning the last time, decided it was a fire hazard and unplugged it and won’t be keeping it.

Better than expected - Will buy another for another room.

Got my #1342 Lantern Style Basket Salt Lamp yesterday, and unpacked it this morning. Very, very pleased with what I received. Good size, nicely finished, and lots of salt "rocks" of various shades of pink, white, and a couple darker ones. I was mindful of a comment that I saw somewhere about the rocks possibly breaking the bulb so we added a little metal "shroud" around the bulb to protect it, but it probably wasn't necessary. I don't have tiny hands, but there was enough space at the top of the lantern to place the rocks carefully around the perimeter. I liked the way the bulb snugged into the socket, and I was thrilled to notice that the way it was assembled at the bottom, it could be possible - if it was ever necessary in the future, to remove and replace the bulb/socket system. (It's just twisted into place.) I did put the "lantern" on a small plate decorated with roses and black trim (just in case there's ever a moisture problem) and the combination looks perfect. The thumb wheel does have a grip on the edge, and it gives a nice little click to let you know when it's "on" or "off" as well as the silent dimming adjustment. I will be ordering another one for the family room. So pleased with the substance of what I got for my money. Oh, and I appreciated the paperwork that came with it. The company did a pretty good job of advertising what one would get - but . . . in real life - IT'S EVEN BETTER!

Warm and inviting

I love the look of this but beware! It is huge! I ordered this one as I didn't want something tall and am very happy with it. Lots of salt mounds above the basket just as shown. I don't know if it does everything they say about ions and refreshing the room. I just like it because it makes my room look warm and cozy. Colour's great. I would definitely recommend that anyone looking to buy one of these get one with the dimmer switch. Great product!

Requires patience..

While I absolutely love this, the set up was less than desirable. The light bulb sits in the center fully exposed, therefore it becomes similar to a game of Tetris while you stack the rocks. Obviously the rocks should not tough the light bulb and if they tumble the bulb breaks from impact. It would be far more effective to have some type of small metal cage that sat over the bulb to protect it. A total of two hours is what I spent to get it set up and ready to enjoy. It's absolutely beautiful though! The three stars is a result of desib flaw with the bulb
