Cold-Weather Running
Icebreaker is the best gear for cold-weather running. This neck chute is great for staying warm on long runs in cold, windy weather. Lightweight, and the wool keeps one warm even when drenched with sweat. Highly recommend -- get a couple!

Soft, lightweight, and non-scratchy gaiter is excellent for strenuous exercise on cold winter days
I bought this for my husband because he does long distance runs daily in all types of weather--even miserably cold and wet winter days. In the past, he's worn a Smartwool balaclava for the worst weather in order to keep his lower face and head warm. The problem with balaclavas, though, is that in some weather you may only need/want your lower face covered during certain times while running--like when you're running into the wind. While you can sometimes push that lower section of a balaclava down under your chin, it isn't always comfortable to do so. That's where this wool gaiter comes in handy. You can leave it bunched comfortably around your neck for warmth and only pull it up over your nose and mouth when you really need it. No need to pull off a hat first or to "undo" anything -- you simply pull up the top edge. Just like my husband's favorite balaclava, this Icebreaker gaiter is made of lightweight 100% Merino wool that is soft and non-scratchy. When exercising strenuously with a gaiter or balaclava up over your nose and mouth, you'll find that the naturally water-resistant wool ones like this are more breathable and comfortable than synthetics in reducing wet respiration and ice crystals against your skin. It pulls on over your head and bunches easily around your neck. When fully flattened, it measures about 20" x 10".

Soft, lightweight, and warm.
I bought this primarily for taking backpacking, but I'm sure I'll use it for hiking and working around home too. I love the fabric, it's very soft and light. It's long enough it "bunches" around my neck to provide great warmth without having a floppy scarf getting in the way. (I love scarves, but when I'm working they can be dangerous, and when I'm backpacking most would just be too bulky and unnecessarily heavy). The Chute is long enough to be quite warm on my neck, but the lightweight fabric keeps it from being bulky. I've also tried wearing it as an ear warmer/hat, and it's great for that too.

Nice and cozy, keeps off the chill
Does what it needs to do. A little tight getting it on, but admittedly, I have a big head (lol). Use it when skiing, and it keeps the wind off my neck and lower face. Decently warm without being hot. For the most part I don't need it except on the coldest, most windy days on the hill.

Very nice but a bit thin.
Very nice but a bit thin. Pretty warm if you double up. Make sure to wash it when you get it as it smells like sheep.

Silky smooth + warmth without overheating
I've been very pleased with IceBreaker merino products. The wool isn't scratchy at all and keeps you warm without overheating. Snug when used as a neck gaiter. A little tight when covering your ears and nose. Overall, it's still a keeper.

warm, comfy and versatile
Comfy, cosy, warm, but not sweaty. Wool but not itchy. used as neck warmer and pulled it over my head and face when it got really cold. I'd buy more colors if I visited the cold more often.
