Protection from flying bits
When I use wire wheels to clean up stuff, they always throw little kinky wire bits at me. This keeps them from sticking into me, my clothes, etc. Also great for general grinding, welding, etc. Has held up to (not-too-frequent) use for several years and in not showing any wear and tear. Good value.

Hopefully the smell goes away
Happy with the length, the straps, Kevlar stitching for strength, and good leather. The color is more golden yellow than mustard yellow as seen above. It smells when you open it and I have been airing it out for two days. Still smells rank! The leather / chemical smell is off the charts. I put a load of baking soda on it and I'll see what happens. Update: put it in baking soda for two days and it helped a little. I then actually stuck it in the washing machine with fabric softener and the smell improved by 70%. It stayed supple even after the dryer. It still smells though.

Good Quality but.........
Just received the item and am very pleased with the quality. Heavy but not too heavy, stitching looks good and length is just what I wanted (42"). With that said I am 5' 10" with a 38 waist. If you are bigger than that or work outside with a coat, you will need to make an extension for your waist. There really is not enough adjustment. The product is made in India and I guess will fit everybody there but for us overweight Americans, it just ain't enough.

Works, straps are better than most.
I'm using this for wood working and chain saw use. Works as a great barrier and is well made. The straps adjust easier than most I've used and are adjustable. I like this design over the kind with sewn in neck straps, they always hang too low for me. You can unsnap the back lower buckle and let out some slack to take it off and on. It's a little of a pain because several adjustments can get off when doing so. Now that I have it right I might just put a few stitches in the adjustments I don't want to move.

I received the apron in the time that it was stated to be shipped, packed very well. The apron is perfect. My waist is between 38 to 40 (closer to 40) and it fits me just fine. I am 6'1" tall. I am using it my home wood working shop. This is my second leather apron. The first apron I have does not have a waist strap--I like it fine; however, I like this one with the waist strap much better. I have a PowerMatic Lathe and do a lot of wood turning, I really do find this leather apron helpful when standing at the lathe turning wood. The pockets at the chest hold my caliper and pencils just fine.

Very good quality apron
Very good quality apron, good strap adjustment, great price. My wife bought this for me to use in my wood shop, and it looks good and fits well (I am 6 feet tall with 36" waist and large shoulders.) I use this to ward off wood chips and sawdust while doing power woodcarving, so the longer 42" length is great. I would have given 5 stars, except that the soft leather piece that holds the two shoulder straps in the center of the back buckles up as the straps move through it. That piece should be made of a thicker material. Altogether a very good value.

Love this thing
Love this thing. It gives great protection while welding. Combined with the IRONCAT 7000 Heat Resistant Split Cowhide welding cape sleeve I have the protection I need. The snaps can be a little hard to snap, but that is a minor thing. Ordered April 20, 2017 and I built a 16x34 6"C-purlin and 6"Receiver channel cover on 4x4-11ga posts; all welded. Great protection. Built metal handrails for my son's deck and about to build him a weld together 30x30 carport and expect this unit to continue to protect me though the process. I am very happy with the Ironcat products

Recommend for all Tasks Non-Wood Turning
Hello, For a leather apron, this thing is very nice. For a wood turner looking for an apron that will keep your clothes from getting chippy, look elsewhere. Fit is good and I think it is very well made. The leather is thick but flexible and the straps are strong and comfortable. Also, there is a little bit of storage for doo dads. I think that it would be very heat resistant, as the title states. I usually don't blame the product for use outside intention so I won't knock off any stars, but keep it in mind if you plan on using this for wood working. The price is hard to beat though.
