These salad hands are great- once you get the hang of them. The wood seasons very well, and they look really attractive. When I got them, I was skeptical because the teeth are REALLY wide on these things and they look like they wouldn't work well with a chopped salad (or any salad with little bits in it). However, I discovered if you lock the hands together as you scoop up the salad, even the most microscopic of toppings is no match for these things. These look like they'll last quite awhile, just make sure to wash, dry and oil them after each use.

very old new item

I loved these salad claws at a friend's, and was thrilled to find them 'new' through Amazon.com - however, the ones I received were very old, although never used - the manufacturer's sticker had literally melted into the wood - I had to use GooGone to remove all sticky residue from them, then wash very carefully before oiling them for my first use. I may not have purchased them if I had known their real condition. This is not a comment on the salad claws, as much as the seller's lack of complete information.

Too wide between the claws

These are very attractive, very well made salad tongs. But I found the space between the claws too wide.

Do not buy.

Like a previous reviewer I only received one of the two pieces. The sticker with the instructions seems old and the text on it is partly rubbed off. The item looks different from the picture (not necessarily worse, but different). The wood has less contrast, is less shiny and the edges are sharper. The tines are pretty far apart; I assume this must make it hard to pick up small ingredients from the bottom of your bowl. I couldn't test it though, because THEY ONLY SENT ME ONE SERVER INSTEAD OF TWO! Gah. Oh and there are black stains / scratches on the wood.

Bear Claw Server

Purchased these to go with Acacia Wood Salad Bowls. Easy to handle and look nice with matching bowls. Great for self serving in buffet line.

Exactly as shown

Decent weight, good feel in your hands. The "fingers" are far enough apart to grab a nice handful of salad. The sticker that came attached to the hands looked very old but came right off with no problem and left no residue. For the price they are well worth it.

makes a great combo with the acacia cutting boards and they are easy good item.Consider a combo with 2 board sizes.
