PHYSIATRIC EVALUATION
I am a retired MD-physiatrist. I have prescribed compression hose for vascular, neurological, orthopedic, and burn-related conditions hundreds of times over a 30-year career. I am also a patient and have relied on these stockings for the past 10 years. This review is independent. I receive no monetary gain from any source related to these products. I do this solely for the public benefit. All of these stockings are knee-high. Thigh-highs are always the best, but patient compliance is terrible. I never wanted to wear them, and so I could not expect patients to do so. These are all rated 20-30 mm of mercury in compression despite listings describing them as anything between “moderate” and “extra-firm.” Any product with less may be nice for comfort or cosmesis but will do little by way of therapeutic intervention. RATINGS and observations: 1 JOBST for men knee high closed toe compression stockings, extra firm legware for all day comfort for males, with odor control technology. The gold-standard but like gold, very pricey. Best fit and function. Best quality. Very plain in appearance. They need a “hike-up” once during the day. No loss of function after 10 uses and washes. 2 FUTURO restoring dress socks for men, firm compression, over the calf. Definitely #2. One quarter the cost of Jobst. Good fit and function. Good quality. No daily hike-up needed. Nicer appearance than the Jobst. Excellent wear-and-tear. I used 3 pair continuously over one year in clinic and noted no loss of function. My neuropathic symptoms resolved over a few weeks of use. Of interest, Amazon’s rankings wherein the Physix below were rated #1 did not include the Jobst or Futuro. 3 GO2SOCKS compression socks for men women nurses runners medical stocking maternity travel. Inexpensive. Can cause discomfort if not donned optimally but good therapeutic compression. Good quality and “daughter-impressing” appearance. No daily hike-up. No loss of function over 10 uses. 4 AMES WALKER AW styles 120 125 150 compression knee high socks. Inexpensive (all are compared to Jobst). Excellent compression but painful after a few hours use despite adjusting fit. Good quality. Look like P.E. socks. No daily hike-up. No loss of function after 10 uses. 5 PHYSIX Gear compression socks for men & women graduated athletic fit for running, nurses, shin splints, flight travel & maternity pregnancy. Definitely NOT #1. Inexpensive. Good fit but non-therapeutic compression. Nice appearance which with ease of donning undoubtedly accounts for their popularity. No daily hike-up. They give less compression after each wash. I cannot recommend these as a physician because of non-efficacy. 6 COPPER Compression Socks for men & women. Cheap. Poor fit and little function. Poor quality. OK appearance. Hike-up N/A because they do not cover the calf with initial donning. They become looser with each wash and are no better than regular socks in function. Not recommended.

husband thinks the socks are working
My husband is diligent about wearing these. He's had them a few weeks and it is due to check in with his vascular specialist sometime soon. If he thinks they work, then I'm satisfied.

not bad in my opinion
I purchased 5 pair of these in December of 2015. I used the measuring guide on the Jobst site, and I had also been using the same size Jobst sport compression stocking. The purpose for getting all black was to replace black dress socks for the occasion, (about three times a week), that I need those. Overall, they have held up very well, and in the last few months, I have had one slip, requiring me to pull it up, not bad in my opinion. I compare these to the Jobst sport stocking, same size, same compression, and for some reason, even though they are Jobst, these feel different. These don't feel as thick, they feel thinner, yet compression feels the same. In addition, when I put these on, I can see my heels through the fabric, leading my to believe that if there is a tear, or weak spot, it'll be in this area. Overall, I think Jobst is a great product, they're not cheap, but it's your health, so relatively, they are cheap compared to worsening chronic disease processes that they can help with. I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 because that heel area just looks like a weak spot in the design, even though it had held up well so far.

Work very good.
Work well. Almost as good as the more expensive brand. These are are a better deal!

Much thinner than previous and questionable authenticity
I have been using the Jobst brand compression sock by recommended from my physician for many years. They have always worked as intended and expected with a high quality and durability. However, this last set I purchased here [from eSource] appears to be very different. It is much thinner, barely any added material at the toes and the calf band. The compression is not as firm as other sets I have for the same mm value. Since Jobst does not mark them for authenticity, I am beginning to think these are an alternate source. The packaging is different than in years past, but the bar code and part number are the same, so I would expect the same quality product. It is not.

Best compression socks for men
I have tried many compression socks. Most of the time I wear Jobst Sensi-foot socks which work fine for me under most conditions. When I start to get hints of neuropathy pain or numbness I wear these more aggressive socks for a few days to relieve the symptoms and get my legs healthy again. The price on Amazon is about half what I pay in brick/mortar stores. I will be buying more of these and using them more regularly. These don't feel like panty hose. They frankly feel like a sock woven of rubber bands but with a cotton/polyester feel to the skin. They are the best compression socks I have found to date for men

The best sock for me
Thanks to a bout of DVT, a decade ago, as a result of a botched foot surgery, I have had to wear compression socks to keep the swelling in my leg at bay. However, women's compression socks don't fit my calf, nor do most men's. Jobst XL, Full-Calf fit well and wear well. In that size combo, they are only available in black. This particular sock is ribbed, the way that some men's dress socks are. Like all other compression socks, they do slide down, so I use roll-on body adhesive (from Jobst, also), and they stay up all day. Jobst has some kind of ridiculous retail pricing policy, so these tend to the expensive side. However, I've been fortunate to find a good price, with free shipping, from third-party vendors here on Amazon, plus I use my HSA card to buy them.
