I have been able to roll dough out very thin with this pin. I don't know why, but it is better for me.

Easy to use
I have a regular maple rolling pin with handles, but always wanted to purchase one of this type. It is lightweight and so easy to use when rolling dough. The flour stays on it very well and has a good feel to it when rolling out pastry. I think it works so much better than a regular rolling pin which is the most popular one that everyone uses. It fits right inside my cabinet (front to back) so it takes up very little space. A great buy for a very useful pastry tool.

It is NOT 22 inches..it's 20 inches .Sellers change your description!
I read reviews saying it was not 22 inches but some said it was and the DESCRIPTION says 22 inches. I So I took a chance. It is indeed only 20 inches. And it is not brown either but natural bare maple wood. However..it is solid maple, smooth as silk, lightweight but thick. I feel for the money I spent this is a fine rolling pin and I will keep it. I can get buy less 2 inches. So if you are looking for a quality pin at a good cost, this is it. I took 2 stars off due to incorrect description. Peace!

20.5" long, not 22" as listed in product description...
Bought this because it stated it is 22" long, and I wanted a 22" rolling pin to replace an existing 22" pin that I have. This Kitchen Aide rolling pin measures 20.5", not 22". So while it is actually nicely made, you're not getting what you paid for or what is advertised here.

Like quality but NOT advertised correctly. Should not state length incorrectly....

Easier to Work With than a Straight Pin
A rolling pin is something I use frequently in my kitchen, and my weapon of choice has been a large, untapered wooden pin, similar in size to this one. I had never worked with a French rolling pin prior to this one so I was interested to see how it would compare. So far, I’m pleased and I finally understand the draw to these. A few other reviewers have mentioned that their pins are rough or have quality control issues. Fortunately, mine seems to be finished properly and is very smooth and required no additional work other than initial washing prior to use. For the most part, this is a basic wooden dowel that is uniform across most of the length but is tapered on both ends. The advantage of this design is that it allows for more control of the pin when working, without needing to pick up the pin and move it or shuffling it with your hands when changing where you’re working. Instead, a little pressure on either side turns the pin in the direction you want to go - not all that dissimilar to working with a hover board if you are familiar with those. It has taken a little practice to get used to working with this pin, as I have been working with straight, untapered pins for so long. However, it is quickly becoming the pin for which I reach when I am working with bread doughs or pie crusts, since it is easier to work with and still just as easy to clean. I should have tried one of these pins years ago.
