my preferred tape measure, i work in water cutting granite
this is by far the longest lasting tape measures if your tape is going to repeatedly stay wet. a fat max will only last a week if you get it wet as well as most others. now for the con. do not just let it snap back in for the first week. it has a breakin period. in a week it wont snap back in as fast as new, now you can just let it go in on its own with no problems. i cut granite countertops on a wet bridgesaw so mine stay wet 24/7. i get a little over 6 weeks before its done which by comparison i only get a week or two out of Any other tape. even others that boost the same waterproofing.

Very durable and sturdy
I bought this tape measure for my husband as a Christmas present and he loves it. Very strong and durable. Our 6 year son(who's destructive by nature) grabbed it before we could stop him and pulled it out/retracted it several times and bounced it and tried to bend it and it didn't break and held up to this torture (which is more than I can say for most things he touches). Very good quality and worth the price.

The best and worst reviews are all valid
I've used a few different Komelon tapes, and a bunch of other brands from the high end to the low. This one is my favorite. I've found it to be more accurate than the rest. It's crisp, smooth, and well built. It's not small and flimsy, or massive and bulbous. It's just very comfortable to hold and use. The marking on the backside are incredibly useful. And again, because it's important, this has proven to be the most accurate in my experience. BUT - YOU CAN NOT LET IT SLAM HOME. If you do this, just the force of it hitting the housing will shock the stainless and twist out of shape, making it instantly useless. It's a huge flaw, to be sure, but I like them so much, I accept this, try to baby them, and just know I'll have to replace it sooner than if it were a different tape. Pro tip: One way to prolong the life is to not let anyone borrow it.

Cuando se usa con agua se oxida
Compré una hace 6 meses y los primeros meses bien después se comenzó a oxidarse

Love it...
I love that even in the rain this tape doesn't rust like my old Stanley did. The numbers are simple to read down to the 1/16" marks. I prefer the grey tape background as on a bright sunny day the matte finish doesn't reflect and blind you. I love that it is marked on the bottom side of the tape, in a year I think I used that option twice though, so it's really not a game changer...just nice to know it's there when it does make it easier. New it's the smoothest tape I've felt. So why only 4 stars? The last 12" of the tape wore out a little quicker than expected, still easy to read, but when hooking it to a piece of lumber and getting out to about 4' the hook flips up and releases from the edge of the board. The last 12" is the only part that doesn't work as smoothly as new since the tape itself is slightly rough. When new it didn't do this, the hook was perfect and moves as you'd expect...it just wore out. It lasted long enough and I liked it enough that for the price I ordered a new one to replace it!

I WANTED TO LOVE THIS TAPE
First off I think this could be a great tape measure but it just isn’t. The first day the end of the tape started to twist now it’s a major pain to use. For me the lock button is too high on the tape, with my hand on the tape it’s hard to operate the lock button. The end of the tape does have a double tab but it sits recessed into the body of the tape that it’s hard to grab it without actually looking at it. If the end of the tape was normal I could deal with the lock button and tab location.

a quality product deserving of 5 stars
I was having tile work done about 6 months ago and I noticed my workers using conventional steel tape measures around the wet saw. They commented that they go through a lot of them due to the wet environment. besides the wetness, the tapes are being bent a lot in measurements so they break when they get rusty. I ordered 2 of these Stainless steel tapes for them to try out. I just heard from them that the rulers are performer great and not a bit of rust to be seen! As a result, the tapes should last a very long time. My contractor would recommend these Komelon gripper tapes to anyone.

Good at home.
I'm an electrician and I got this tape and it's very good except that the first 6in of the tape twisted to the right.

All metal components are stainless so nothing will rust. Great tool.
Great tape, my last one is 6+years old and still goin! Tried the newer round body style but it kinked 4 inches from the end so its pretty much useless. The quality seems a little higher on the older squarish body so this was my impulsive replacement. All metal components are stainless so u can literally rinse it out in the sink and nothing will rust. Great tool.

thin metal easily kinks
Very poor quality, looks great but in use it would easily bend and even wave in the slightest breeze. I definitely would not recommend this for anyone because of the thinness of the blade, totally useless on a jobsite and who needs a 30’ tape for anything else. Waste of money imo

Good so far
Liking it so far, but have only used it for about 3 weeks on the job as a carpenter so I don't know long term durability. Normally I throw out my tapes when the markings rust away too much or rewind stops working. Hopefully being SS will result in it lasting longer. Top hook and bottom markings are really handy. Note that extension before buckling is only about 7.5', a good quality wide tape measure can have an extension of 16', hence the 4 stars not 5 stars. Occasionally need my tape to reach more than 7.5'.

Top-quality tape measure
A little bulkier than some, but this is greatly overshadowed by the high build quality and top-shelf materials and design. This is a very smooth and reliable tape measure that does its work without fanfare. My first one had a problem, the tape got stuck occasionally at the 6" mark, and the replacement was delivered the very next day. The replacement is excellent, and I have another Kamelon tape against which to compare it. Overall, extremely pleased with this purchase and the fast, efficient customer service.

We shall see
I bought this because im a field welder and needed a tape that would work good in the rain and could take a few drops. I havent been able to test its durability yet though it does feel good in my hand. I only wish the measurement was in metric.
