Nice item for homeschooling

Mice item for homeschooling, 3 year old likes to just stare at the sand falling, older kids use it to time cleaning, quick cleaning or doing other small chores (getting ready before the sand runs out, brushing teeth, etc.). Editing from 5 stars to 3 stars because the kids managed to open all the tops an now they are useless! Not the companies fault but just thought I would share. Was looking for something more childproof/ waterproof. Also they got them wet and the sand got all wet and sticky and now they don't work either + caps on both end pop off very easily, chocking hazard for baby.

Good replacement for lost game timers

My wife and I sometimes buy vintage board games at yard sales or thrift stores and find that the original hourglass timers are often missing or broken. For just a little over $6, this item provides a nice selection of different time lengths to approximate the original timers we need to replace. When clocked against a digital stopwatch, I have found that the one and two minute timers are really pretty accurate (+/- one second in multiple tests) but the three minute timer only runs about 2:36. The original timer in my 1970s Parker Brothers version of Boggle runs 2:44, so the new one seems pretty close. In all, a nice and useful product.

Networking Leader's Friend

When you run networking events that do polite round table introductions, it can be very helpful to have "a non-biased third party" in these little tools to help remind people the point of a 60 second or three minute introduction. Too many entrepreneurs DO NOT spend enough time mastering their introductions or keeping them to the commonly accepted time frame in respect to all parties present. These timers help remind people the goal is to create interest, not give a dissertation. Only suggestion, provide a plastic box case for safe transporting in common business briefcases.

Timey wimey timers

The 1-minute timer was good, but the 2-minute timer ran ten seconds short in one direction (not totally sure how it could manage this), and the supposed 3-minute timer took 2:06 to empty in one direction (average of five trials) and 2:18 to empty in the other direction. Mind you, there was nothing in the packaging to indicate which timer was supposed to be which, hence performing the experimental trials in the first place.

helps get things done

This helps get things done in our house. I use it when my4 year old son starts to argue or procrastinate. I use it at dinner time to eat our veggies, bathroom to get our business done in a timely manner, getting coats on and getting dressed. I try to make it a game "can you get it done before the time is up? " I also have the 5 minutes timer that I also use for quick clean ups before bedtime.

Good Quality Sand Timers

I bought these sand timers as part of my "tool box" for my job as an Analyst. I am often in requirements gathering meetings with business users and discussions get quite involved. When attempting to prioritize requirements with a group, it is easier to limit the discussion time in a "fun" way if there are timers on the table. These sand timers are of good quality -- much better than those that are included in games.

Don't buy if you're looking for accuracy

None of these timers are accurate according to the time they're supposed to measure, and they're not even consistent from one time to the next. So they're fine if you just need an arbitrary time limit for something; not so great if you actually need to accurately count down 1, 2 or 3 minutes.
