Good for an Inexpensive Knob

I rent my house so I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a door knob. I just wanted to be able to lock my back door because the knob that was on there didn't have a key. I replaced it with this one. It came as advertised. Was easy to install and the key works great. If you just need something functional that works well, this one will do.

Easy install; there are definitely better Kwikset knobs

One year later: I did not care for the build quality of the actual knob. It felt cheap and somewhat flimsy. However this is one of the cheapest SmartKey knobs that money can buy, and that feature inside the tumbler works as expected.

Wouldnt' Recommend Unless You Can't Pay A Cent More

The rotating part for the locking mechanism on the thumb part for the knob is so cheap it fails frequently trying to just install it. You have to be a master magician to get the holes to align while balancing how this thing fits on. The screws in my bag are not big enough. This is a joke. I managed to get it on and it failed in 3 days.

Bad Design

The inside handle has a bad design with the way the screws hold the handle together. You have to put the screws in first then try to rotate the handle around to clip onto the door handle but they don't match up well. Then the cover that goes over that is free to just spin around. I returned this and went to Home Depot.

Not well made

Screw heads are smaller than the holes. I had to use the ones from the knob I replaced. It was really awkward to install, as screws kept slipping and not lining up. When I went with the old screws, I finally got it installed. I used to always buy Kwikset and had no problems. This was very disappointing.
