Not for "installation" wtih Whirlaway, but works adequately inserted from the top.

I ordered this for my Whirlaway 584 disposal, for which the OEM splashguard is no longer separately available. This is *not* the same piece. In other words, it's not a direct replacement for the OEM part. The OEM part requires removing the disposal from the bottom and replacing the guard from underneath the sink. This part does not work that way and will not fit that disposal. However, it *does* fit into the opening from the top. It appears this is the intent of this unit, and for that purpose, it does work. However, the very top lip (visible in the picture) is plenty small. When inserting it into the opening, it is possible (even somewhat easy) to shove it right down into the disposal. Don't worry, it's just as easy to get back out. When properly inserted, it works as it should. So far, we have not encountered a problem with the splashguard coming unseated and going down into the disposal. All of the users have been instructed not to shove large items down the disposal with significant force and that appears to result in sustained correct function. My only complaints are: 1) that it's not clear from the marketing material that this is not a direct replacement for the OEM part, and 2) that it's a bit easier than I'd like to shove all the way down into the disposal. Both problems are addressed as described above. The positive of this part is that it does not require removal of the disposal. Just push it down in the drain and go.

This is the perfect fit for a Waste king L-8000!!

Trial and error finally paid off. I own the Waste King L-8000, which has a 3.1" opening at the sink level/ entry to the disposal unit. Trust that if you attempt to use the usual off-the-shelf hardware store brands, THEY ARE TOO BIG and will not fit. Also if you see others that say they will fit a waste king... Oh, they'll fit, but you WILL have to push EVERYTHING into the disposal unit because they are actually made of a hard plastic-like material, and won't let anything past their tiny little openings. (I actually had to cut their openings out to make them work, hence a waste of money.) This is my third try to replace the splashguard, and I've found the material used to make this splashguard are as close to the original as they make. The noise level and splash-back effect are as expected. Hopefully, this review helps others. I do recommend it as a good replacement for the original equipment.

An uncommon brand of disposal splash guard. Paid $7 and got it in two days. Works well.

This is replacement part for a Whirlaway brand disposal. It prevents spray and loose food debri from flying out. I’ve never heard of this brand and it not as quiet as the better ones you buy at big box stores. But it’s my mother in-laws 65 year old house and it gets the job done. These splash guards are not universal, l learned. But when I bought the wrong size at the hardware store, I decided to return with brand name in mind. When i couldn’t find it in stock, I looked on Amazon and found it for several dollars less. It’s very minimal, doesn’t make food grinding any less loud. It doesn’t completely close the opening. It’s just a very basic splash guard that snapped (sorta) into place after I pushed it down the throat of the disposal. I could have returned it to the hardware store and they would have special ordered it. But for $2-3.00 less, I let Amazon deliver in 2 days. Someday I’m going back store I bought the first one and get a refund. When I get around to it.

Drains very slowly

Purchased this in September of 2022. Just threw it in the trash. Water is way too slow to drain through small opening of gasket. Would have given it only one star except it did correctly fit the drain opening of the disposal.

Exactly three inches in diameter

This is the splashguard, baffle that fits Sinkmaster, Whirlaway, Waste King, and probably everything that uses the EZ-Mount system by Anaheim Mfg. Do not confuse this with the "Universal-fits most disposals" one that hardware stores sell. Those are 3 1/8 to 3 1/4" in diameter, and they're too big. Won't fit. Looks the same but a little bigger, and it won't fit. This one will. It is exactly 3" in diameter. If your old one is pretty worn out, you will be amazed at how much quieter it will be when you replace this simple, no-tools-necessary part. I only knocked off a star for the price. This would still be a very profitable item at half the price. My disposal is a 1/3 hp BoneCrusher that I paid $23 for probably 12 years old.. We run it a couple times daily, but with really light loading. The trick to disposal longevity and drawing a blank stare when someone asks if you know a good drain cleaner is to use this sequence for food disposal: Turn on cold water in the disposal-side basin. Turn on disposal. Slowly add food to disposal, making sure plenty of water is going into disposal. About 10 seconds after you're done disposing, turn off disposal. Let water run another 10 seconds.

Fits perfectly

Fits our Sinkmaster garbage disposal. Diameter of drain varies among manufacturers, so make sure you have the correct model. I believe that Sinkmaster and Whirlaway models only makes one diameter drain. It arrived promptly.

Good Product

It fit well, but what I didn't like is almost immediately one of the triangle cut areas flipped down and will not stay back up where its supposed to be so it looks like its been used for a good year when it was used once. But for the price it does what its supposed to; keeps the food and any spray from blowing back up at you.

Excellent replacement part

Fits perfectly in my Waste King L-8000. A bit softer than the original, feels like silicone rubber; remains to be seen how durable it is but I like the way it feels. Very quiet .. noticeable improvement in noise emissions.
