Covered up a crappy drywall mistake.
My electricians and sheet rockers were not exactly All-stars. Several of my wall plates had gaps just outside of the standard size wall plate. One that annoyed me in particular was in the toilet room in the master bath. There was a 1/8 inch gap in the upper left side. Every time I went into the room it annoyed me. So, I finally had enough - after 4 years. I saw this slightly oversize plate. It was not the cheapest. Actually $4 seems a little steep, but I could not find cheaper elsewhere. So, one evening I replaced the fartfan control with a timer control. Then I slapped on the new wall plate. Control took about 5 minutes and wall plate took one minute. All you need is a small flat screwdriver. Go easy and straight on the screws to prevent the paint from scratching. There was enough flex in the plate to allow vertical alignment on the screws for those with OCD. Guess what, problem solved. Now, when sitting on the throne and looking up at the wall plate, I can say to myself, yea, I fixed that. I am the king.

Plate is fine, but QC lacks on packaging: screws missing in about one in four packs.
The plates are fine, but the screws are missing or too few in many of the packages. Got tired of having to return to get replacements, so I bought an extra pkg of just screws to deal with this problem.

it's oversized alright
I just inherited the stupidity from the old home owners...thus one of the stupid moves (contractor or home owner) was cutting too large of a hole around some of the outlets/light switches which also let me know I had some drafting issues too. So I could not find the Cooper brand oversized/larger covers in my local stores..or at least this type. I bought contractor packs of the Cooper brand and they were just large enough to cover those overcuts. Of course this would be the last one, I needed to order due to color and availability. Well it is sturdy enough (slightly thicker than Coopers') which is not a bad thing. It does have 4 new screws included as well. My one gripe is that Levitrons oversized is certainly more oversized than the Cooper's version by less than 1/4" all around which makes it massive compared to standard sized covers. Luckily this is going to the far corner of the kitchen wall covered by the storage jars. At least coupled with the insulation pads - it keeps the drafts out and more than covers the crap cut out job on the wall tiles. SO the lesson here is, certainly different definitions of "oversized/large" depending on the manufacturer - check and compare your brands. Otherwise, I can't really complain about the fit, finish or materials on this.

Perfect cover for sloppy drywall install
Apparently the folks who installed the drywall in my home back in the 80s were not very careful. So they installed oversize plates to cover up their lack of craftsmanship. More recently I've replaced several switches with nice digital dimmers and had to upgrade the cover plates to this newer style with a large opening for the control to come through. That's when I found how the typical new wall plates failed to cover the gaps around the box. This cover is a bit bigger and conceals more of the sloppy work. Fit just fine and was an easier fix than sparkling, sanding and repainting around the boxes.

Easy to install. OK with Lutron switches.
We ordered this switch plate (wallplate), to replace an older one that had cracked. This is the "oversized" version, that covers up the previously damaged edges of drywall surrounding the switch box. This same brand name and style (Leviton Decora) is also available in the standard size, as a different item number. Very easy to install, said my husband. Note the mounting screws are accessible from the front of the plate. Several other styles had hidden screws, to give a sleek, modern look; but maybe tricky for klutzy persons to install. This wallplate looks better than we expected. The screw heads are color matched to the white plate, and are, when looking closely, barely noticeable after installation. This wallplate in white matches our existing white slider-switches. Although this is a Leviton brand wallplate, it looks fine around our two Lutron-brand switches (similar toLutron DVW600PH-WH Electronics Diva Duo Dimmers, White . Other colors may be available.
