Good Deterrent
I’ve seen many of the one star ratings on here that I personally believe are unjustified. This item is made to OSHA standards as a lock out tag out device. They are meant to keep someone from accidentally turning a valve on that is being serviced somewhere down the line. They are not made from titanium or some other exotic metal to keep out Tom Cruise when he is on one of his impossible missions. They are a polycarbonate; plastic to most of us. If someone is dead set on stealing your water, this device is not going to stop them. They will be able to pry it with a screwdriver and snap it apart. What that will tell you is that you now need a security camera to capture them in the act. In my case, I believe it may be my neighbor. I have only one as my home is at the end of a cul-de-sac. I don’t think they will be stupid enough to break the device just so they can water their grass. I think they will put two and two together and realize I am on to them. Like many parts of the country, this has been a record breaking summer for heat. I have an irrigation system so my lawn is watered regularly. Only one other home on the block has the same. Everyone else uses little sprinklers and a hose to water. You can easily tell which homes are not doing that based on how brown their lawns look. My neighbors yard is nice and green with lots of growth, yet I have not seen them put out the sprinklers in the morning as they have always done. This leads me to believe they are doing so while I am at work and they are using my water. I am also adding a security camera to that side of the house. It is really a shame that this is what our society has become. It may just be time to leave the big city and find a community where your neighbors are looking out for you instead of stealing from you. I do recommend this item. It does exactly what it was designed to do.

Hopefully this water faucet handle lockout will deter water thieves.
The water faucet on the front of my house is being used my passersby , homeless people, dog walkers,etc. My water bill shot up $40 since last month. So hopefully this lockout device will deter future UNAUTHORIZED water theft.. The product looks and feels solid and secure .Maybe the light fingered passersby wil KEEP OFF and away from my property and go use a public water source.. The sturdy plastic construction combined with the pad lock hole feature probably will deter unauthorized use.. We'll see this week after the heavy duty pad lock arrives. KC

Not an effective securty device
You have to understand what this is. This lockout will keep someone from inadvertantly turning a valve when it is important that it not be opened/or closed as part of mainteance or other activity. If you want to use it for security it would easily be defeated by a hammer, screwdriver, or any other impact or prying device. It's a rigid plastic. For its intended purpose it is of sound quality.

Stop casual water thieves.
This was exactly what i needed to stop people from stealing water from the hose outside my house. I do wish there was on made of stronger plastic or metal but this does the job. Someone would have to Want to break it to get to the hose nozzle.

Plastic valve lock
I ordered two of these to use to lock up my faucets out front and on the side of my house. They are plastic and don’t seem too sturdy but so far the plan to keep total strangers from using my water is working.

Good buy
Made of good plastic. Not sure if these have any UV protection built in. Mine are in the sun all day. They work. Easy to use. Good deterrent

Great for small children.
It’s very good to keep away small children from opening a water valve. However, for older children like age 7 it’s not so convenient they can easily break it because it’s plastic made. We used it for a small playgroup to keep away children from opening a water hose.

NOT FOR SECURITY / WATER THEFT PREVENTION !
PRO: 1. Arrived on time. 2. Works as advertised. 3. Has dual language stickers. 4. Bright red and two lock holes in case two people want to lock out at the same / different times. CON: 1. Plastic, let me say that again, it's PLASTIC! 2. If using for SECURITY reasons, this can be broken off easy. 3. Any padlock can be twisted and break this PLASTIC device off easy. 4. It "binds" on itself when you try to use it. OTHER: 1. It's plastic. So once this breaks by someone trying to steal water from me, I'll have to buy something better / stronger. 2. Read reviews, this one got me, lesson learned. 3. I would have paid more for a metal one.

Limited security device.
This is definitely NOT a high security device as it is easy to prise it apart with a screwdriver - it is only made of plastic - hence the low price. It is only useful for preventing the accidental operation of the valve. For a secure device to deter theft you will need to look elsewhere.
