If you need to read outdoors, these are for you!

As an aging guy, I need to wear reading glasses to read print on flyers, menus, etc. These combination sunglasses/reading glasses do a great job of doing both. They're a little pricey, but it's better than carrying a separate pair of reading glasses everywhere I go.

Great Optics but....

This is actually a tale of two reviews, the glasses and distributor. First the glasses. These are excellent. I love the optics and the bi-focal cheater function to allow for reading. I'm on the road almost daily and rely heavily on my GPS (my phone - which sits low on the center console). Without the bi-focal lenses, I have to put my regular glasses over my sun glasses. It works but is a pain. With these glasses, I can easily see my GPS. I huge negative for these glasses, as has been reported in many reviews, is that the design is such that the lenses will break out of the bridge. I had read those reviews before but decided to take a chance. That was August of 2015. My glasses broke last week, did not even make it a year. Oh well, I'm within my 1 year warranty so I send them in for lens replacement. Maui Jim contacts me. Apologies and informs me that Amazon purchase (through Eyesave Sunglasses) was not an authorized re-seller and would not honor the warranty. I was offered replacement lenses and nose pads along with a 2 year warranty for $75. I figure I will probably go through at least 2 more pair so I took the offer. I was told they would fix and return mine but it appears they just sent me a new set. To do it all over again, I would probably pass. They are great glasses but just don't hold up well. If you are going to buy them, research the seller to make sure your probably warranty claim will be honored.

Best sunglasses ever

Truly, the best polarized sunglasses on the planet. Would buy 100 times over. You can’t go wrong with Maui Jim’s. Great sunglasses. They are the only ones I’ve purchased over the last 20 years and will definitely stand behind that. UPDATE: Another pair of Maui Jim’s. I’ve never lost a pair, until my most recent pair requiring me to replace them. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve been buying the frames with readers available. They actually area/window of bifocal is relatively small and, although some have rightfully complained about it, I’m glad the option is available. It’s usually sufficient to allow me to respond to an email or text and not have to switch glasses. Really at this point, they should just send me a free pair every year.

Great Sunglasses with a reader!

This is my 3rd pair of Maui Jim sunglasses with the reader in the past 15 years. They are great! When I scratched my last pair of glasses, I automatically ordered a new pair without hesitation. If you need a reader in your sunglasses, this is a great option.

They are bifocals !

I loved Maui Jims. But having to wear reading glasses now makes it impossible. I purchased these hoping they were full reading glasses but were not. I returned them immediately. I wish the company would make them a full reading lens. I'd buy every style they have

This is the second pair I have purchased. Once you adjust to the bi-focal nature they are indispensable. No more doubling sunglasses and readers.

Problem

These glasses are a lovely design and really appealed to me, but they are the dreaded bifocals and that is not stated in the description. The word "readers" apparently means the same thing.. So I complained and sent the back with full refund.. Good service from supplier though. Rob Swindon UK

Excellent

I have to say I am very pleased with these sunglasses. I was getting fed up with having to keep removing my sunglasses to see the details on my phone, and these are an excellent solution. They look great (in my opinion) and seem very well made. The polarized lenses are very good, and once you get used to the different section of reading lens at the bottom you can have the benefit of reading glasses without the expense of varifocals. They were recommended by my optician, and as I said I am very pleased.
