I use it when we go places and kids need to be busy and quiet for several minutes. The kids enjoy using it!

Great until the marker goes dry

These are great but the marker goes dry rather quickly. It only makes it through about half the book. The markers also have an extremely strong scent so when used in a car it gets smelly. Caution if you’re sensitive to scents.

Cute but pens don't last

The suggestion of dipping in alcohol is a poor substitute for whatever is actually in this pen. The colors don’t show as fast or at all. The pen should at least last through all of the pictures - and it doesn’t. Got through maybe half. That is with securing the pen securely each time. Haven’t even used a month yet. Disappointed.

Marker dries up before all pictures are colored

My three year old loves coloring with this and finding the missing pictures, but it needs to come with more markers. He has had three of these books and every time the marker dries out before each picture is colored.

These are a LIFESAVER for long car rides!

The Melissa & Doug Colorblast! sets have become a staple in our house - we make sure to pick one up before any long car ride or plane trip. The no-mess marker is a lifesaver if you have an overzealous colorer like we do! The "invisible" marker can be accessed through the front of the book - I would recommend that a parent get it out the first time, as our overly eager four year old has managed to rip the entire case out of the book in her excitement to get coloring! Once it's been opened once, it's easily accessed & closed by little ones. The pictures in the Princess book are a big hit with our daughter. She does tend to color VERY thoroughly and is determined to cover EVERY inch of the page, which can cause the wet pages to seep through to the next page. We've learned to put a page or piece of cardboard under her work in these books and any time she uses markers (invisible or otherwise) in order to contain the bleed-through as much as possible. If you little one colors with normal pressure, you shouldn't have as much trouble with this. We haven't had any trouble with the cap staying on, or the marker drying out in any of our sets, and we love that the book stays together even with the roughest opening and closing of pages. Some coloring books with the top seal tend to wear out and the pages fall out all over the place, but we haven't experienced that with any of the Colorblast! books. We'll definitely continue to buy these and highly recommend them!

Love these books

These books are great for little ones leaving to write, especially if they do not have the patience for normal coloring books. We just opened them up and they are working so far!

Perfect for travelling, the car or at the restaurant!

I love that it easily fits in my handbag or diaper bag and can entertains my daughter while waiting at the restaurant or in the car and makes no mess! I have 3 and will be getting more!

Pen lid design can be frustrating

Bought for our 3 year old daughter. The colouring feature is awesome, but the trouble came into play when she tried to re-cap the marker. There's a little tube area inside the lid where the marker tip can get jammed if it's not aligned perfectly, which mashes the marker tip and makes it even harder to cap unless you pause and smooth the tip back into place as best you can. My daughter went through two tantrums over this and we ended up hiding the book and marker. If your toddler is the "do it myself!" type like mine, and doubles down in trying to do something when frustrated, beware that a fight is coming your way. Definitely recommended for more laid-back toddlers, though.
